Best budget motel I have ever stayed at!  This Scottish Inn has restored my faith in Budget motels. Everything functions, air conditioning is cold, shower is hot carpet is in great shape and doesn't smell! Inside and out painted and fixed very well. For the price I won't complain about the small selection of breakfast items because it fit my needs of a little coffee cereal and toast.

Wonderful for budget motel

Very basic. Except for stains the room was clean upon arrival. Very out dated. No coffee pot. Bed was comfortable and clean. Air conditioner okay. Couch had gross stains. Check in, they wanted us to still wear a mask and thats ridiculous in June of 2022. So much plexiglass you could bairly slip your license and card under it. Could not understand the clerk. No itemized receipt. We didn’t matter. Breakfast was a joke, coffee horrible. If you aren’t saving a lot try elsewhere.

Okay but just….okay

Maybe we just got lucky but this was the best value for the money we've had in years-- and we stay in motels, hotels and inns frequently. 
  Based on reviews here I was plenty worried, having made a last-minute booking from the road and seeing better reviews than these before I booked. 
  We found a pleasant and personable night clerk (owner?), a room in which everything was new, good lighting, a clean comfy bed and a quiet night's stay. Based on that we would have NO HESITATION staying here again. Yes, breakfast at all this category of chains is minimal, but if you want a 5-course hot breakfast then maybe you should be willing to pay more.

NO Complaints

My husband, always searching for a deal, thought this would be a good option. It was just ok, certainly nothing fancy. A mere place to lay your head.  The motel is dated, pretty clean, comfy bed. It was quiet. Breakfast is BS --Bite and Sip----offering coffee, juice 2 kinds of cereal, milk, a few pieces or fruit and high sugar pastries (mostly out of those). I would have appreciated some decent protein choices such as eggs or yogurt or even just a granola bar.  Thankfully there is a nice well-stocked Kwik Trip across the street.  I am willing to pay more for a decent breakfast and other amenities I am accustomed to.

Once and Done

Hotel is cheaper and better than I expected. Super friendly receptionist. Large room, good bed and bathroom idem. The downside is that the hotel is very old and the ground floor rooms go straight out into the parking lot (takes privacy and in the cold is not pleasant)

I made 2separate reservations, one for a Friday night and one for the next night, Saturday.  Upon arrival and checkin,  I was told I only had a reservation for Friday night.  The owner told me I was making up a story about making the Saturday reservation.  I told her I had double checked the details when I had called earlier in the week when making the reservation for Saturday.  She then told me I was lying.  She continued to be rude and unprofessional toward me.  

Mistakes happen but this is not how you handle them, at least not if you want return business.  You do not tell customers they are lying to you!

Not a great hotel, but fine if you are just looking for a bed for the night.
Cleanliness left something to be desired.  Stray hairs in the bathtub, dust on the furniture.   Free breakfast is only from 6-9, so we didn't get it.  Free Wifi information was not provided.

Meh!

I booked two rooms for four people with two beds in each room on June1, 2017  Our arrival date was to be June 24, 2017.  On June 20 I received an email notifying me that our reservation had been cancelled.  I called the property to find out why the rooms had been cancelled.  It appeared that there had been a water leak of some kind that had made the rooms uninhabitable.   I fully understand that the rooms were cancelled for a legitimate reason. 
However, I asked the person with whom I spoke if she could help us to find other accommodations in Eau Claire, inasmuch as time was short and there was an event near town that caused most of the motels in the area to be already booked. Much to my dismay, I found that we were to be on our own...she offered no help.

No room at the Inn

Entrance has huge, lit "$39.99 Room" billboard. Though parking lot seemed clean and litter-free, appeared few patrons/vehicles were actually staying here (as compared to Super 8 next door). Beware: The women manager will not let customers see a non-smoking room before making payment, as vast majority of properties nationwide allow ( I am senior and tax-paid public servant, want to see what I am paying for before renting). Told this manager she'd better not talk arrogant to me and show others respect when they come in a mature, professional, lawful manner to conduct business--that include no sass talk to any prominent police officer or courtroom judge. That she could get herself into lots of personal trouble with litigating customers of the law, find herself no longer working there. Also, I recommended she might do herself well to acquire a bit more professional customer service training.

Avoid Scottish Inn; Stay Next Door at Super 8 Instead!

There are several negatives about this hotel but I'll mention the positives first.  The location was good, the room was clean, and the mattress was comfortable.  I chose to stay on the 2nd floor and was surprised that the entrance was on the outside with no access from the inside of the building.  These were the areas that need improvement:  the heater made sounds not unlike a crackling fire (pops, snaps) every time it turned on so I was awakened in the night a lot; the floor creaked (felt sorry for the people below me); the TV was nice except the volume didn't work properly (lots of cable channels); the continental breakfast was the worst I've seen - no fruit, no make your own waffles, only mini white bagels, cheap rolls, bread to toast - all I did was drink the coffee (there is a nice restaurant across the street); towels had stains....well, you get the picture.  All the furniture appeared to be from the 1970's.  There was moss growing on the exterior carpet on the balcony. If you need a cheap place to stay for a night and you don't care what it looks like, this is the place.
