Bert is an amazing host who communicates with you the day of your arrival, so that he can greet you when you arrive and show you around. We stayed in the Silo room and enjoyed the ambiance. 

Bert took the time to talk with us, find out what we wanted to do and gave us recommendations. We enjoyed the sites and restaurants he recommended, especially the Lackawanna Coal Mine tour and Cooper's Seafood.

Breakfast was amazing both days with fresh fruit, a pasty/bread, and the main course (omelets one day and blueberry pancakes the next). Bert even accommodated changes to the meal, as I don't eat eggs and my man doesn't like blueberries. We really enjoyed chatting with Bert after breakfast and learning about the history of the B&B and about the area.

Awesome Host/Quaint B&B

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at this Cozy, Nostalgic,  quiet, country set, bed and breakfast. We arrived to be greeted by our host Burt Ayers who was kind enough to provide us with the family history, along with different collectibles displayed everywhere. We reserved the Country Suite which was extremely clean and sanitized throughout. The jettub worked well ,room decor was perfect, and dinner recommendations by our host was more then expected, fantastic. Breakfast was served at 9am ,which was our preference,consisting of a beautiful country view, coffee,  fresh fruit, juice, and homemade breads. Following we had Burts famous Ham and cheese omelets which were perfectly cooked and plated perfect
We give this bed and breakfast 4 stars and will definitely return. Thank you Burt for an overnight stay well enjoyed.

COMFORTABLE

In dire need of some R&R we headed up to Lackawanna County Pennsylvania. Happily we reserved the silo room at the Red Barn Village Bed and Breakfast. It is homey, quaint and filled with a variety of fun collectibles and memorabilia. Bert and Nancy were kind and friendly hosts. Bert amazed is with his knowledge of the history of the region and beyond and provided us with activity recommendations which we undertook and thoroughly enjoyed. The homemade breakfasts were delicious and made our stay feel like a home away from home. We will definitely be back.

Relaxing Retreat

We had a great visit. Our room was quiet, cozy, clean and inviting. The owner was very friendly, breakfast was great! We loved all of the memorabilia! We stayed in the Fireplace room. I would definitely return to this spot if we are in the area again!

Relaxing, Cozy, excellent service

My husband and I stayed in the fireplace room at this B&B.  Bert is such a great host and his breakfasts are delicious.  Loved our room with the warm fireplace.  Some of Bert’s memorabilia collection took us back to our childhood.  What a nice place for a get away.  Hiking at Nay Aug Park in Scranton, PA (at Bert’s suggestion) was beautiful in the snow with some frozen waterfalls.  Thanks for your hospitality Bert!

Two Day Get Away

The Fireplace Room was comfortable.  Well appointed and clean.  The proprietor was friendly, helpful, and engaging.  Located in a pleasant setting. The common areas are decorated with interesting things. Overall, a nice place to stay.

Comfortable and Pleasant

Made a last minute decision to stay in this area & found a room in this nice B&B. Bert, the owner, is very hospitable & a great cook -- enjoyed home-made blueberry muffins & delish veggie omelette, fruit cup, juice & toast. Our room was small & cozy, but bed was comfortable & room was well-furnished with lots of storage space. The house is full of amazing collectible antiques, from trains to dolls, games, toys etc -- interesting to just wander around & take it all in.  Location is a bit remote -- suggest calling ahead to get best directions from Bert.

Very nice B&B

Picture this: 
Bert, the owner was standing on the upstairs walkway to greet me when I pulled up. He waved and called down to say welcome. How sweet. The location is remote enough to provide peace and quiet, but close enough to the quaint Clarks Summit downtown area to be able to travel back and forth easily and swiftly. 

I was given a tour of the suite, checked in and told that if I needed anything not to hesitate to ask.

I was traveling alone, thus having my own outside keyed entrance (plus the door bolted from the inside) was a feature that I appreciated. There is another door inside the suite on the first level that leads into the house which also bolts shut from inside the suite. This means that there is no need to exit your accommodations, then enter the house via another door. 

When you come in the front door of the Silo Suite, to the right is the kitchenette area and the separate living room/entertainment room with three sofas/loveseats is on the left. At the top of the carpeted stairs you enter the silo bedroom with it's many windows. Close the blinds if you so desire or, leave them open and take advantage of the beautiful mountain view and sunshine. 

Walking through double doors, you find yourself within the very large en-suite bathroom. Step up and then down into the whirlpool tub or utilize the separate shower. There is also a large vanity and sink with good lighting. 

Bert outdid himself with breakfast. A bowl of fresh sliced fruit was waiting for me along with orange juice and water when I arrived. Coffee and tea was also offered. Next, came pineapple upside down cake that was positively scrumptious. The final course consisted of French toast and it was divine. You will not leave hungry and Bert wears his chef's hat ever so well. Thinking that a cookbook just might be in his future. : )

There were two couples seated at the other two bistro tables during breakfast and we had a most enjoyable conversation.   

My stay was fabulous and I highly recommend the Red Barn Village Bed and Breakfast.

Such a Wonderful Place

We had a wonderful visit here July 8 and 9, 2018. We had two rooms, both of which were beautiful, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the innkeeper was gracious and accommodating. The memorabilia in all the rooms was delightful. If we come back to the area this is absolutely where we will stay!

Revisiting our college from the 70s, discovered this delightful B&B

Excellent accommodation in an area not very practiced. Special room with kitchen counter available. Very quiet and spacious. Excellent welcoming of the owner who entertains happily with the guests and prepares an excellent and rich breakfast in the morning satisfying the preferences of the guests.
