3 couples stayed 2 nights at Historic Smithville in New Jersey.  We had rooms 205, 206 and 207.  These rooms were all in the same old bldg.  The furnishings in each room were very nice, the bathrooms were adequate and the rooms were all very clean.  Rms 205 and 207 both have electric fireplaces and both of those rooms were very spacious.  Our stay included a nice continental breakfast each morning.  Everyone was very pleased with our stay.

Nice getaway weekend

Beautiful hotel with very pleasant, helpful staff. Spent two nites there in mid week. Can't complain about the location: our specious 1-bedroom ranch style cottage with cathedral ceiling was a short walk from the main office and in the middle of Smithville. Brkfast basket was a nice touch: warm muffin or croissant, juice, very good coffee or tea, yogurt. Throughout the day, stop by for complimentary coffee and tea and delicious shortbread cookies. The sizable bath included a steam room/shower. Room was very clean, wuth good internet connection.
One nite, treat yourself to a 5-star dinner at the wonderful Smithville Inn Restaurant, within walking distance of your room. Excellent food, great service, in an old colonial bldg overlooking a big pond. (For 2 people, appetizer and entree will be about $85, without drinks.) 
For lunch or brunch, I recommend the Lakeside Grill, with a good variety of dishes and very lovely staff. For a quick bite, try Costello's Pizza. These last two eateries are next to each other, right on the lake's boardwalk. Very affordable.
As for Smithville itself, well, one day is more than plenty to visit the shops. If you're a vinophile, Smithville is in the middle of NJ wine country, with many wineries nearby. In fact, there's one in Smithville (Tomasello). 
In summer there are paddleboats on the lake. All year there's a kiddie train and a merry-go-round.

Great place for a 1- or 2-nite getaway, nearly Atlantic City and Philly

Located in the heart of historic Smithville, the hotel staff were very nice and helpful, the room was everything described, the hotel has great little touches that make the stay comfortable, overall a nice getaway.

One suggestion for improvement, the bed wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked - the mattress was too firm, but that could be a positive for many.

Good choice for a getaway

My family and I rented 3 rooms at The Barn in Smithville.  Although we enjoyed our stay we found our rooms, dusty and dated and the bedding dingy, and dirty and in need of washing and replacing. SEE PIC BELOW.  Also my bed was rusty and loud and squeaky and noisy and I slept alone.  The outside of the Barn is deteriorating.  For the price this is unacceptable. 

Dirty  Bedding / Noisy Box Spring

I was  in town to visit friends and family and stayed at the Barn for three nights.  The room was very clean and well appointed.  Staff is very friendly and helpful.  Enjoyed my breakfast as well.  If you want to visit the casinos but be away from the hustle the bustle, you can easily stay here since it is only 15 minutes away.

Relaxing Stay - Highly Recommend

We were here celebrating our anniversary.  The room was large and clean. The only issue we had was that the bed was hard. The village is quaint.  We really enjoyed all the little shops.  Everything was decorated beautifully for Christmas.  There is a light show on the lake after 5:30 pm. The lights dance to the music. The Inn provided free drinks and snacks throughout the day. The food was delicious at the Historic Smithville Inn restaurant.  It was a wonderful, relaxing and enjoyable experience.  You won't be disappointed. 

Glad we chose to spend our anniversary here! Festive and relaxing. 

We brought our Mom here for a night and for the most part enjoyed our trip. The people are extremely nice and accommodating. The shopping was fun and they let us borrow a wheelchair ( from the Smithville Inn.). We stayed in the barn because it offers 2 beds. Upon arrival we had to get an extra towel, as we had 3 people. We also had to ask for coffee. Our room had 1 decaffeinated . Thankfully we ran into the attendant. He was most helpful. Our beds were comfortable. The lighting in the room is dull and the bathroom is worse. We couldn’t take showers in the morning because we couldn’t see. The TV is old and blurry and I had to turn it to 84 to hear it. The muffins were delicious but I would have enjoyed a breakfast like most B&B’s do. Maybe the other rooms are brighter. I will say it was a quaint little place.

Lighting dull

It was a wonderful getaway weekend! We loved the Johnson suite. The room very very clean and quite comfortable! Being near the shops and restaurants was an added feature! We could park the car and walked everywhere! A great getaway location!

The Johnson suite was lovely! Spacious and private! The bed was quite comfortable as well!I loved the basket breakfast!

My back and neck was in pain for a few days after sleeping on the hard bed. Accidentally left my $100 fan in the room and was told no fan was found when I called them later. Hmm, I wonder where it could have gone to?

Uncomfortable beds and theiving housekeeping

05/26/22 - We stayed in the Woolfe House building room #205, we wanted to do this one, because when we stayed in the Colonial Inn in 2019, in room #101, we saw this room, and wanted to stay in room #205, the next time. Like the layout with the separate sitting room with fireplace. The room was great for two people with plenty of seating for TV viewing. There is a small table for eating. They do include continental breakfast. the rooms were setup so nicely. This house or building was built in 1856, just has a cute charm to it. The location is right on the Village Greene so when you walk out of your door you're right in the where the shops are. During the day, we rode the little train, and did some browsing in the shops. The continental breakfast included your choice of muffin or croissant, juices, coffee or tea, yogurt, need to check off your selection on a card from the night before or at check in, but next time we like to do breakfast, because we always miss it or get there when it closed. The check in was great, great staff. We recommend this place or the The Colonial Inn.
