I am a gold member of choice hotels and often stay at Econo Lodges across the USA.
This is one of the best.  Sean Patel, the owner/manager, has a great way of engaging the customer and made me feel right at home.  He has an eye to detail on every facet of the motel and makes sure everything is up to scratch.  The bed was King and very comfortable.  The room was spotless and everything worked as it should.  The breakfast was eggs and sausage for a top-end protein start to the day.  Would hope to come through Hays, Kansas again and stay there.

Great value. The bed was comfy. The room amenities were adequate. There’s a nice little breakfast set up with pancakes, fruit, cereal, bread/rolls, coffee, juice, etc.  It felt fairly clean. Some of the fixtures and finishing touches like hardware, seemed old and reused from pre-remodel. We were only here one night. It was an excellent value and we’d definitely stay here again.

Value and comfort

Everything was very clean, and the bed was comfortable.  The folks at the desk were very helpful.  Breakfast was a good variety.  It was in a convenient location for traveling across country, near the Interstate.  There were several good restaurants nearby.  I would stay here again.


Clean and comfortable 

This is a motel brand that we would not normally book due to a bad experience 25+ years ago. I read reviews about the places we stay to mitigate these experiences. Could not find anything in Hays Ks. in our normal price range that had good reviews, then stumbled on the Econolodge. What can I say, rooms and bath rooms are small. But man is it ever clean. Beds are super comfortable, walking distance to food. The best is the couple that own it, extremely nice people. Everything is getting a remodel they obviously believe in upkeep. Try it you will like it.

Not our Normal 

We had a dog so the room had no carpet which made it feel cleaner, but we had to bring in a blanket from the car for our old dog cuz her joints hurt. The office & hallways had no air conditioner but the room was nice & cool. Overall for the price it was a good stay. We slept well & it was a clean room. 

I would stay here again

We expected to be in Hays Kansas for one night on our way to Denver CO. We were to leave in two days. Because of their reviews we booked the Econo Lodge and because we had a dog and the price was reasonable. The morning before we left, we had a family medical emergency and our entire trip was canceled. 

When we called the hotel to ask for a refund on our stay, the manager was horribly rude. It wasn’t even about his unwillingness to help us out, it was his tone and word choice when he was asked for the refund.  He was crude with his answers. 

So my point, do not expect anything above and beyond from this guy. We had planned this two week road for months and had no reason to believe we would not be in Hays Kansas in need of a place to stay.

We missed breakfast, but we’re still able to get some toast & fruit. Yogurt & coffee. 
The staff put my freezer packs in the hotel freezer for me as my room fridge didn’t have a freezer. It was much appreciated. 
Would def stay there again.

Excellent

stopped through here on a kamikaze trip from Oklahoma to Colorado springs and back over the Friday/Saturday weekend.  The room was clean and bed comfortable.  Room quiet. The shower faucet didn't work perfect and half the water gushed out the bottom valve while only 1/2 went up through the shower head (hate that as it wastes so much water) but it worked fine enough to get clean.   We were leaving at 5:00 a.m. so I had brought my own oatmeal to cook in the room (microwave and fridge) but saw they already had put out the basics for breakfast. My husband grabbed a yogurt and muffin.  We loved the price for a clean motel to sleep in for sure!  We liked it so much we stopped back by there on the way back on Saturday night and stayed again on our return trip home.  We were pulling a 5th wheel and able to park it in the back with no problems. I wanted to stay in one of the very back rooms to be able to see the trailer but those were pet rooms and didn't want that potential smell.  This room was great and no problems with the shower.  The next morning we didn't leave quite as early and went down to the breakfast area. I didn't see any hot breakfast as advertised above "Hotel offers complimentary HOT breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, make your own waffles" but did see a pancake machine with syrup there.  Then the regular juice, toast, muffins, bananas, yogurt, packages of oatmeal and cereal.  which was fine.  PERFECT place to stop for a night on the road with parking to accommodate a trailer. 

Excellent stop for a nap

Good location in proximity to the highway.  Room was good and clean.  Beds were comfortable.  Front Desk was continually staffed.  Room had a microwave and mini refrigerator.  Hotel is within walking distance to restaurants and convenience stores.

Ok Stay for Hunting Trip, Easy to Get In & Out

I was skeptical about booking because it looked dated on the outside, but the price was too good to pass up. But since my wife wasn’t with me I took a chance. The room was remodeled and with the vinyl hardwood floor you could tell it was clean. The free breakfast was very ordinary except for the automated pancake machine which was amazing. All in all a very good value for a stopover on the way back from Colorado
