 Best thing about it was the comfortable bed, although the pillows were more like cushions, they were so small.  Breakfast was also good.  Only gave it 3 stars because of thee two positives otherwise it would be 2. Now the not so good - towels we’re so thin you could almost see through them, plug mechanism in bathroom sink was broken, big crack all down vanitory unit, toilet plastic handle broke, toilet roll holder broken, bedside clock had piece missing off corner, wires running around room were a trip hazard, curtains were off the rails and one pair held together with a large paperclip, door to outside didn’t fit and let a shaft of light in, had to block it off with a chair with towel draped over it.  Had to pull plug on fridge because it stopped us sleeping with the noise.

Find somewhere else to stay

We are repeat customers and look forward to our stop after a long drive. Always meticulously clean, quiet and comfortable. Sonny is the perfect hostess. Breakfast is good, too. So great to pull into the parking lot. It's like our home away from home. Love this place. 


Best place to stay.

Stay was great. Clean, quiet room. Super comfy bed. Great service at front desk. Better than average breakfast. Great price. What more could you ask for? We are repeat customers and look forward to our next visit.

Red Roof Inn Hazelton PA

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay based on Tripadvisor reviews. When we arrived we were shocked at the conditions. The hotel is obviously being renovated. The room they gave us was in a building designed to be a 3-stoy motel, but all the concrete balconies had been destroyed so only the first floor was accessible. When we entered the room it smelled very strongly of dust - so strongly we knew we'd both be sick for a week if we slept there. We could also see big gaps when we closed the door, big enough for mice at least. And the window was boarded up for construction. 

The room was clean and probably would have been serviceable if it had not been for the smell and the construction state of the property. 

I can't believe they are even accepting guests when they are in this state. 

To their credit they immediately refunded our money.

A Dump Under Construction

Pros:  Staff was very friendly and responsive.  Good breakfast.  Large room.
Cons:  Room was in desperate need of upgrades.  Almost everything in the room was broken or needed to be replaced, including the bed.  Except for the bathroom, which appeared to have been upgraded, the rest of the room must have been around since the last century.

I feel bad for the staff because they seem to be working hard to keep this place up - they deserve a better property.  While this inn has potential, I'd avoid it until they've done more renovations.

Needs renovations

Sorry!  The manager was accommodating when it sounded like a slam-fest with the doors in D-bldg, shaking the room.  The manager got better towels, wash-cloths and bath mat that all had 3” holes (shredded, soiled, not white color).  There was an insect with 100 legs, dead beetle on the rug, something fell from the ceiling and I left with small red bites on my chest.  Most of the external doors didn’t lock and ones that could be locked were mostly left ajar by guests.  The swimming pool was filled with rocks.  The rooms are in external buildings and guests have to walk to the main lobby for breakfast (inclement weather).  The manager said she serves cold hard-boiled eggs because guests left the serving spoon in the tray.  Otherwise, there’s 2 cold cereals, 2 juices, only coffee, those plastic wrapped muffins, plain bagels, yogurt, and the milk tasted almost expired.  There’s a small refrigerator, microwave and the bathtubs needed to be refinished; someone’s hair in the sink and needed better cleaning.  I hope I don’t have to ever stay there again, due to the bugs.  Desk staff were nice.  The manager said workers from other countries stay there a lot.  Feelings of safety on the campus was questionable.

Bring bug spray

Room was mostly clean. Carpeting could use a good shampoo otherwise clean. The property is clean no rif-raf hanging around. Walls are paper thin.... It sounded like me neighbor had a good time. They allow dogs which is nice, but every sounds wakes up every dog in the place and they  all start barking at once. Shower pressure was absolutely AMAZING. Best part of the whole stay. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. 

Not bad. Just OK. 

Okay, let me start this review by saying that hubby and I travel quite often with our golden retriever and as long as the room is clean and quiet we are all good. but the few issues we had with our room could be so easily rectified that it is frustrating that the owners could be so oblivious.  Let me start with the good:

-We stayed in room 307 which is an end unit with direct access from outside, 
  great when traveling with a pup in tow and there was a wooded area mere
  feet away for our pup to relieve himself and there were dispensers with 
  waste bags nearby.
-Our room was clean, quiet and even though it quickly became evident that 
  although the entire place was quite vacant, pretty much every guest 
  checked in for the weekend was in the same area as us, however, there 
  was only 1 occasion in the 2 nights we were there that we ever heard our
  neighbors and that was just briefly.
-It turned out to be a pretty chilly weekend but thankfully the room heated
  up quickly and we were able to maintain a comfortable temp our entire
  stay.
-Plenty of hot water and great water pressure.
-Beds were super comfy (need to do better with those mini pillows though)
-Good wifi and more than ample tv channels to choose from
-Staff was super friendly and our room had been made up after we returned 
  from our long day of hiking - trash emptied, towels replaced, bed made.
-Our mini fridge kept everything really cold; soda & ice machines feet away
-Love the small touches - makeup remover wipes, iron & ironing board,
  coffee machine with tea and coffees
-Super fast check in and check out

Now for the disappointing, especially because these issues could be so easily
corrected and would show pride of ownership:

-The bases of both nightstand tables were really rusty
-The handle on the dresser was falling off, needed to flip around to use.
-The desk chair was literally falling apart at the seams
-Several curtain hooks were broken which led to the curtain hanging down 
  limply 
-Soda machine in building we were in kept kicking our $1 back out, perhaps 
  upgrade to allow for card payments or at least ensure machines work
  properly (but at least it didn't steal my money).
-Brochures provided in lobby for local interests really weren't nearby at all.
  ie. Penns Cave
-Never saw any info regarding alternative to regular breakfast option being 
  offered nor did I see any pastries or beverages offered in lobby.

Final thoughts - we would definitely stay here again, it was fairly central to all of the areas we visited but would like to see those minimal issues addressed, after all, if you're only utilizing a small fraction of your rooms why not make sure those you are putting guests in aren't the very best they could be.

With just a few quick fixes would be an easy 4 star

The Red Roof Inn Hazleton rocks! The rooms have fridge, microwave, coffeepot, and functioning heat :). We normally stay at Red Roof Inns whenever possible because pets stay free.  Some are nice, and some aren't so great.  But this one was very nice. Lovely natural area behind the motel - like a small park -  with a nice little spot to walk the dogs.  We got a later checkout than normal because they had only given us one towel, and we had to wait for the laundry to finish.  We were fine with that.

This Red Roof ROCKS!

I had a very long term stay at this motel.  Every one was friendly and nice.  The rooms are not the same level as a 200 or 300 a night motel, but for the money it is a very nice place to stay long or short term.  I travel a lot for work and what matters the most to me is cleanliness ...  I stayed in a couple different rooms while I was in town and both rooms were extreemly clean.  I always check for bugs...  not even a hint..  very quiet and laid back with plenty of parking for cars trucks and even motorhomes and semi.  If your coming to visit for a while or just tired and need a good place to rest for a day this is the highest on my personal list for comfort cleanliness and value.  Very close to good food and walking distance from food and beer.

Great Long Term Stay...  Call the Manager...  she will take care of you and get it done
