Grand Circle Bed & Breakfast

Enjoy your trip to Kanab and relax in this wonderful Utah accommodation. We weren't sure from the pictures and the old reviews whether we should really book, but we're glad we decided to. The house has been renovated during the Corona crisis. Unfortunately, since then, there's been no inclusive breakfast due to a lack of staff everywhere. So it's more of a hostel than a B&B. Each room (there are 6 in total) has its own (small but new and clean) bathroom, only the kitchen and dining area as well as the very large garden must be addressed to other guests within Arizona.

A very clear recommendation!

We had issues at check in-no room key. NEVER received a response after leaving numerous texts and voice-mail. There was also no way to lock the front door when leaving for dinner so all our valuables had to go with us....
No response = never staying there again.
First B&B i have ever stayed where there is no one there to great you or assist you. At minimum they could have texted me or called me back.
Highly recommend to NEVER stay here.

Horrible place

If you have always desired the opportunity to stay in a Sears and Roebuck kit home from the early 1900s, here's your chance!  The Grand Circle bed and breakfast, nestled in the town of Kanab, Utah, offers you a wonderful opportunity to stay in a kit home from 1912.  While there, take a moment to read the history of the original owner and the interesting story on how he earned the money to make his home purchase.  Eat a hearty breakfast at the Bed and Breakfast before you set out on your day of touring.  The town of Kanab is a perfect spot to see several of the  most desired state parks in the U.S.  This also include the Grand Canyon; just a 78 mile drive away.   The Zion national park is even closer.  Learn about the Grand Staircase, and take a day to drive out to Bryce Canyon.  Tips before setting out for the day.  Fill the car!  You will do a lot of driving!  Call ahead to check status of the park you are planning to tour.  These parks, on an average day, are apparently very busy.  We traveled during a slow period.  Take a picnic lunch each day.  Think Subway!  Sandwiches, salads, plenty of water, and fruit.  We stopped at Walmart on the drive to Kanab and picked-up fruit and a huge pack of water.  The Bed and Breakfast let us put our food in their fridge when we arrived.  There isn't a Walmart in Kanab, but there are grocery stores.  Take your camera!  You will definetly need your camera.  I promise, you will regret if you forgot it when you see these views.  Stop at the travel center in Kanab.  They can provide you with maps and plenty to to do.  Motion sickness pills, if you or someone in the car suffer from this.  Also, don't forget to take in all that Kanab has to offer.  This part of the country has been a popular setting for movies and shows; Gun Smoke anyone?  Check out Little Hollywood.  Well-know actors of the past have stayed in Kanab while working on movie sets.  Check out the local restaurants.  Places such as the Rocking V,  or Peekaboo Canyon Wood Fired Kitchen.  There is plenty to do!  When you are done with your day, head back to the Grand Circle, and relax with a drink on their outside seating area, and just take in the day!

Experience history, and tour the parks!

We stayed in this wonderful house for five days and enjoyed a very good breakfast alongside a cozy room.

It's a great place to stay. Everything is fine.

I got to the house earlier in the day and was the only person in the house...it was weird. The yard needs some upkeep and some areas of the house need work too.
Had a good night sleep and woke up to the smell of bacon....so everything was better from there.
The best part? Having breakfast at a big table with 10ish people from all over the world.

Odd.. but great breakfasts

We made reservations for the Grand Circle Bed & Breakfast based on promising reviews by other travelers. Unfortunately, this bed & breakfast did not meet my basic expectations for a bed & breakfast, which are to have a comfortable room, good breakfast, and personable service. 

Our room was stuffy in spite of cool outside air temperatures. The only remedy was a built-in window fan, which was of little help. I cannot imagine how much worse our room would have been during the warmer months. The bed was too soft for our liking, and the sheets seemed old, but what really bothered us was an overwhelming smell of dog pee and bacon.

The breakfast was terrible. The coffee was bad, the eggs overcooked, the casserole soggy.

The manager was neither friendly nor helpful. We weren't welcomed upon arrival, but rather admonished for calling and asking for help checking in. 

Further interactions with the manager proved sour. We were not treated respectfully or with dignity. Finally, when we decided to check out early, the manager agreed to give us a full refund for the nights we did not stay. This decision was based on mistakes she had made regarding our reservations, not our discomfort, or the inhumane way we were treated as guests, but we were satisfied to find other accommodations--even at expensive, last minute prices--in return for a refund.

We have not, however, resolved this promised refund. In fact, additional charges continue to appear on my credit card for reasons I have not understood, and we are working with our credit card company to resolve this dispute.

I have also asked to speak with the owner of the Grand Circle Bed and Breakfast because at this point, trying to work things out with the manager has only brought forth additional problems, and while I would like to work through this in a professional and friendly manner, my attempts to do so are met with flagrant insults and contempt. The manager denied my request to speak with the owner and told me the owner wasn't interested in my complaints. I'd be glad, however, for the owner to contact me directly so that I can explain what happened to us during our stay, why we would like a full refund for the days we did not stay, and how poorly we were treated as guests.

Awkward and Uncomfortable Stay

When we walked into the home, we saw an envelope with our name on it which informed us which room we were in and provided a key.  There was another potential guest wandering about the home looking for someone to speak with about a place to stay.  After loudly announcing our arrival and hearing the dogs barking loudly, we gave up on asking whoever had the van parked in the driveway to move to enable us to unload our luggage so we wouldn't have to haul it over the gravel walkway form the street.(anyone who has traveled knows what fun that is!) to the house.   Early evening we wanted to ask for suggestions about restaurants, again, the same story, no one there.  Later, we wanted ice for our drinks, same story, no one there to ask where it was.  Looked around and finally found 1 small tray of ice in the upstairs small refrigerator - needless to say, it wasn't enough.  Another couple arrived and asked us if we were the owners/managers, we said no.  They couldn't find anyone to help.  Our room was small and tight.  The room was clean.  The next morning, the breakfast was OK.  The scrabbled eggs were very over done.

No one available

We stayed there for one night and it's just a tired old house - don't waste your time or money.  The bed was not comfortable, it was old, slanted downward and creaked.  The bathroom is redone which was clean. The towels were so small.  Room had a nice outdoor patio.  Furniture in the home is tired, as you go up the stairs the chandelier is full of dust, the carpet is clean yet dated. Breakfast was fine - nothing exciting and the coffee had grounds floating in it.  We love bed and breakfasts but this felt more like a boarding house with breakfast.  We have decided to stay in name brand hotels in the future as this was such a disappointment.

Tired old house

We stayed at the Grand Circle for one night during our visit to Kanab over Thanksgiving break. The room was cozy with a lovely little private balcony. The beds were so very comfortable, and there was plenty of attention to detail,from the filled bottles of water to the mint truffle chocolates on the bed stand. Sina was a very friendly host, thoughtfully providing extra sheets for our dog and greeting us with delicious homemade cookies. We didn’t have much time on our hands to hang out in the common areas but the fireplace looked very inviting as did the selection of board games. The next morning’s breakfast was also delicious with enough variety to accommodate our vegetarian diet. Sina also gave us useful tips on the local sights and helped us figure out whether the roads to the north rim of the Grand Canyon were open on that day or not. She also pointed us to a local pet shop for our dog’s needs and gave us a couple of extra cookies on our way out for the road. Highly recommend for family trips- I for one would definitely stay here again!

Charming dog-friendly Bed & Breakfast

My wife and I spent one night in this very comfortable and friendly B&B. It's a historic house with a lovely common area that was perfect for hanging out when a rainstorm decided to blow through the area. Our room was spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The house is on a quiet side street, yet only a 5-minute walk to the main part of town. Sina, the caretaker, was exceptionally warm and welcoming when we checked in, and she prepared a delicious breakfast in the morning. We had a great experience at this B&B!
