Great little weekend getaway, exactly what we wanted it to be! The front desk staff were friendly during check in and check out, the mixologist made me a drink I’ve never had before and it’s now one of my new favorites! 

Leisure Weekend

Very nice staff but the nightly rate was not what was advertised.  No food service on property and very limited bar hours.   Took owners two weeks to respond to our questions regarding our stay.   Still no resolution to the prices they up charged.   Enough other places to at in Lake Geneva.

Shocked by the nightly rate adjustment

Quick getaway trip for a few days. Loved everything about the mansion. The ambience was fabulous. The Speakeasy was fun! We stayed in the bridal suite. Really appreciated the heated floors and steam shower. My only suggestion would be to get room darkening shades for those of us that like to sleep in. 

Great Getaway Trip

We LOVE to stay at Maxwell Mansion whenever we can, particularily for our anniversaries. We've stayed there many times over the years. The location can't be beat and the decor is stunning. Everything is clean and comfortable. Lots of parking and outdoor spaces to hang out in. The Speakeasy and the Apothecary bars are so much fun with clever, well made cocktails available. The history of the building is really interesting and historical too. My only "negative" is that the pricing has gone up so dramaticly over the last couple years, we sadly had to find a new place tostay when we visit LG. We miss it but hope to return one of these days.  

My favorite place to stay in Lake Geneva, hands down.

Everything was absolutely perfect when it came down to wedding day, some minor set backs with I suppose a manager named Peter. Was not a very pleasant person especially when I was there for my wedding. Monica and Sarah were beyond perfect though and made up for all of it. House it so beautiful, grounds were so beautiful. And will be returning for our anniversary

This was our 3rd time staying on the property. First time on the weekend. The lady bartender in the Speakeasy was awesome. Was disappointed to see the manager walking around socializing while the were tables full of dirty glasses all night.

We had a lovely time there. It’s so pretty and picturesque!  We were excited to be there with our son and daughter in law for the weekend. 

It was $400 a night, which I thought was expensive. However, depending on the amenities, sometimes it is worth it. But I did expect more than average for that price. The bedroom and bathroom were charming, and everything was super clean. No complaints. It was charming. But way overpriced for what we got. 

Our room had an air conditioner that boomed!  There’s no way to sleep through that noise. So the next day my husband told the front desk, and they assured us it would be fixed. They said it had happened before and they knew about the problem. We were gone for the day and when we got back, everything seemed to be fine, until we were woken up that night by the same very LOUD air conditioner turning on. We’d get back to sleep and it’d do it again. At $400 a night, I expect more than that. 

Also, they do weddings there.  I had read it on the website, but I did not realize the impact. They have the weddings outside in the back. We were told we couldn’t be out there past - I think she said five - once the wedding festivities started. So you can’t use the patio past five?  The bar is also at the back of the building by the patio. Instead of setting up a bar on the patio, which I’m sorry but makes more sense, the wedding guests also use the bar and so those of us as paying hotel guests can barely get in the door, it’s so crowded.  So you forget it and drive into town instead. And when you get back, your assigned parking is taken by a wedding guest and you have to find another spot in the now crowded parking area. And that’s blocked off by a limo. I don’t know how that can be solved.  However, though I realize they need parking and a bar for wedding guests, they also having paying guests who don’t care about those weddings and it’s not fair to them. 

There is no breakfast. There are Keurig machines in the room, though. 

It’s a lovely place.  The staff is very nice. But for those prices, I expected to at least be able to get ice instead of walking to the back of the complex for the ice. To be able to park in my spot or have something else readily available. A couple of bars so everyone can get a drink?   MOre than one bartender in the downstairs Speakeasy?  Some coffee downstairs in one of the empty rooms that don’t seem to have a purpose?  Maybe a few doughnuts?  I think it’s a $200 night, not $400.  I think it could be a $400 a night with a few tweaks, but not how it is now. 

So, it’s a lovely place, but maybe not go on a weekend.

Lovely, But…

We have stayed at The Maxwell Mansion a few times now.  Each time we go back, we love it more and more.  If you are looking for excellent service, fantastic amenities, great location, and truly a unique hotel, this is it!  It’s a total gem in Lake Geneva!

Motel with glitter is a SCAM!
This place is a dump!  The bathtub leaked, the door to our bathroom would not open or close,  in order to get into the front door of the room I had to lean into it with my shoulder like a linebacker (I’m 6’3 and 200ibs), the pool was dirty and there were wasp nests around the grounds.  In addition, I was charged fake fees after I left the facility and when I requested to speak to a manager with all my complaints, I was blown off and have never heard from them. 

Do yourself a favor and book yourself an equivalent stay at a motel 6 or holiday Inn if you want a motel like experience, otherwise pay up for a real hotel experience with so many other adequate options in the area.

No one was at the front desk to check me in... i had to walk around to find someone and when i did they seemed as if was bothering them.

One women said and I Quote "lets try to make this guy happy" end quote... really 

there is a difference between eclectic and cluttered junk... my room was the latter... all this for $450 per night!
