Beautiful clean Inn, slept solid. I did not have dinner the night before so was looking forward to meeting my hosts and enjoying a great breakfast.  8:50, no coffee, tea, or water. 9:00 no breakfast, 9:20 headed downtown. Sadly, I must have missed the no breakfast memo. So heads up, there is a great coffee/breakfast place 6 minutes away by car.

Wonderful place to sleep!!

Had a reservation.  We pulled up under the awning, saw no signs on what or where so I went to the front door which I assumed was the office entrance.  Door was unlocked, I entered, and the owner walked up to me and said "what are u doing in my house?".  I said I'm here to check in like I always do at B&B's, hotels, etc.  He asked why and I said because I have a reservation.  He got very rude and said this is not a B&B or hotel.  He said all the info was in the Email. I received an Email a couple days earlier that had no check-in info.  He continued to cop an attitude.  Unknown to me an Email with that info was sent to me at 10:30 AM that day and I had not read it as we drove there on Motorcycles starting 8:00 AM and I can't read Email on the bike!  They should have sent the mail at least the day before or indicated in the previous email that check-in info would be provided later by Email.  I told him if he will give a refund we will leave as by this time everyone was teed off.  He said he would provide a refund (I have not yet seen it).  The entrance to the awning and parking is one way and his vehicle blocked us from getting out.  He refused to move it so we had to drive thru the grass to leave.  He then complained that we were damaging his property.  I don't understand how he can stay in business with his behavior.

Owner was totally rude and we requested a refund and went elsewhere.

My husband and I made a last-minute itinerary change and we ended up looking for accommodations near Harper’s Ferry, WV and fortunately ended up finding the Carriage House Inn Bed & Breakfast.  Donn and Marie were our incredible hosts and they maintain a fabulous authentic historic residence.  Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean.  We had the most amazing hot tub/jacuzzi in our room and a lovely little screened porch. When we arrived, Marie greeted us by giving us a short history of the house.  The common rooms are so incredibly well decorated for the period.  On the day we arrived we were greeted with homemade brownies with caramel icing.  The breakfast is first rate.  Donn made the most incredible crustless quiche and pumpkin walnut muffins!  Yum!  The Carriage Inn is within walking distance of the downtown, many restaurants and absolutely lovely neighborhoods.  When I came to this review site to post this review it did not surprise me that The Carriage Inn had a solid five star rating. But I did notice that at least one guest rated it average and one guest rated it terrible.  I don’t even want to try to cull through the reviews to figure out what in the world caused them to rate it that way.  I guess it just proves that no matter how outstanding and wonderful some thing is there’s always somebody who is going to complain!  All I know is that I have highly recommended it already to friends through my trip notes that I write while I travel. We would definitely stay at The Carriage Inn if ever we were in Charles Town, West Virginia again.  

Best B & B we’ve ever stayed in!

This place is a real "find." We stayed in one of the two Carriage House house suites, which were large and roomy - a bedroom with two large beds (perfect for friends who prefer to have separate beds), a large living room with TV and comfortable seating, a small kitchenette with fridge, glasses, complimentary soft drinks (wine for a fee) and a small table) and a bathroom with both tub and step-in shower. Kathy and Mike have thought of everything that their guests could possible want/need. Breakfasts were extraordinary. A highlight was having the opportunity to chat with Kathy and Mike during breakfast. They were generous with their time and their insights into the local culture.

Give Yourself the Gift of Staying Here!

It was a pleasure staying with Kathy and Mike in their exquisite home. We stayed in the carriage house suite in the back where we had our own bathroom and a shared den and kitchen. The carriage house and original house are nice, but the breakfast in the morning is what made it perfect. A delicious breakfast and warm company awaited us in their dining room at 9 AM every morning. Beauty in the Past

From the first moment pulling in the driveway I fell in love. This is a spectacular home lovingly and painstakenly restored. We were welcomed by a very kind and friendly hostess whilst her husband was tending the yard.  Everyplace I looked was eye candy. The rooms are meticulously furnished and arranged specifically for their own individuality. Everyplace in the house was meticulously kept. The owners were the prefect combination of attentive yet stayed out of the way. Since we were the only couple stay there this one night, at breakfast we had a lovely visit with the pair of them and enjoyed their company - though they didn't stay too long to and seemed mindful of our needs. My breakfast needs were 'odd' to say the least but they went above and beyond to provide a wonderful breakfast to fit my quirkey needs which I wasn't expecting them to do even in the least. We except we may be back in that area again before too long and we already know where we are staying.

Wish we could have stayed longer

We had a fabulous stay at Carriage Inn. Mike and Kathy couldn’t have been better host’s. The B and B was a life time dream for Mike and Kathy and when you see this lovely place you can tell it was a labor of love....the hard work to make this a memorable place to stay in .
We sat out on the  porch which was relaxing and was a true Southern style wrap around porch with wicker furniture, before going to dinner. The interior of the Inn was a true history lesson, many period antiques as explained by Mike. Mike also gave us a little Lynchburg history which was great since I had never been to Lynchburg before.
The bed was very comfy and beautiful. We slept like babies. Then in the morning we had the best treat a fabulous breakfast prepared by Kathy. 
I would highly recommend a visit to Carriage Inn bed and breakfast if you are in Lynchburg or central Virginia...you will love it.

We stayed at The Carriage House at the end of September for a weekend getaway in Lynchburg. It was our first experience with a Bed and Breakfast. Mike and Kathy were very hospitable and tended to our needs while staying. Kathy greeted us upon arrival and acclimated us to the house and grounds. All details were clear (ie. time of breakfast each day, when they were available, keys, check out time, etc). Kathy found us local wineries upon our request and had brochures prepared for us the following morning at breakfast. We enjoyed the turndown service with next day breakfast menu. Mike and Kathy do a great job of welcoming guests and making them feel at home. We would recommend The Carriage House and it's beautiful accommodations to anyone visiting Lynchburg!
