This hotel was about halfway between two attractions on a vacation a friend and I were taking.  It made the perfect stop for the evening.  The hotel itself looked to be a bit run down.  The room was okay.  The beds were not the most comfortable.  The bathroom was not bad.  It was okay for a one-night stay.

Average Stay

Started off by immediately telling me I have to move my vehicle even though I had a ton of bags to move in and was parked out of the way. I then found out it was a smoking room given grief about changing rooms. I was followed down like a common thief as she went it my old room right in front of me to see if we stole anything or were hiding people in the room. I found large dead spider in the tub in the new room,mouse dropping, pubes and the room falling appart.

Worst experience ever

We stopped in for the night while driving home after the Thanksgiving holiday. We booked the room using the Motel 6 app - after seeing all the rooms in Mattoon were sold out. We arrived around 9PM and was greeted by the front desk clerk who kept popping her game in my face, while her dog was barking right behind here. Felt awkward and a bit uncomfortable. Moving in, we made our way to the room and found it very basic and mostly clean - except for some very large hairs we found in the shower. Overall our stay was pleasant, and we were relieved to finally get a room on the first floor near where we could park our car. Made for easy unloading/ loading. Felt $69 was WAY TOO MUCH but didn't have much choice. Probably won't book here again unless the price was closer to $50. Location is good as it's adjacent to several restaurants including Starbucks.

Basic but overpriced

Great location. Close to restaurants, gas stations, and getting back on the interstate. The motel host was friendly, helpful, and catering to our needs. I felt very welcomed when I first walked in the lobby.

Western Vacation

I travel back and forth to see my grandchildren. Have used Motel 6 twice. Both times room was comfortable and clean. There is a mini frig and micro wave but no coffee pot. The internet worked well the first time..hardly worked at all this last time. A/C in room was powerful and not too noisy. Hotel was quiet and the front desk person was really friendly. Priced inexpensively so worth an overnighter.

Very basic but clean

Ran out of awake time and needed to lay down my sleepy head and this place had a bed with coffee in the lobby and that was about it. The bath towels were no fluffy or big, but I was able to get by with just one. The TV and cable worked well enough and it was quiet  too. For the bux, it was good enough.

Lowest in the area

Made a stop here for a nights sleep. Comfortable , clean room, proved to be just the ticket.  The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The only thing was the mini fridge was a little loud every time it kicked on.

Sleepy

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of my room. Sadly my positive experience was overshadowed by the late night/early morning activity in the next room. 

One of the Trip Advisor reviews of this property stressed how the walls were thin and sound really carries at this motel. Truer words were never spoken. I turned on the air-conditioning fan for some white noise which helped me to drift back to sleep.

Motel 6 management can only do so much. I can't hold them at fault for something like this.

Things worked out to where I stopped here again a few nights later on my return. I was too tired to drive anymore and thought I would take a chance for a quiet night. This time it was the TV in the next room. It was not turned up really loud. The walls at this motel don't isolate or deaden any noise. Instead they seem to amplify the sound...

Clean, Great Location, Helpful Staff but thin walls that seem to amplify noise

I made a mistake when booking this motel online.    I meant to select a Thursday, but apparently did Tuesday instead.   When I didn't show Tuesday, they charged me.    When I showed up Thursday, the GM apologized and said she understood the mistake and would see what she could do to credit me Tuesday's charge.    The next day she said she couldn't get the computer to 'take' the credit that she wanted to issue me to offset Tuesday's no-show charge.
I called the national Motel 6 office.    They said she could and would contact her on my behalf.     They gave her another chance to do it, but now she says she won't.    That's dishonest.
By the way, we selected this hotel mostly because they allow pets and have non-carpeted floors.    My wife hated the place because it was so run down.    The mini-refrig left a puddle of water on the floor.    Not a very nice place.
