Probably the most cosy hotel I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in many if them. Only 4 rooms and a really good motion in the house. 
You feel almost that you are home and
 that is the best feeling you can have when you travel. 

The best little Hotel...

I recently stayed at the Austin Street Inn for three consecutive nights. I am very well pleased with my stay there! The host and hostess are very kind and accommodating people. They went out of their way to meet my dietary and other needs. The inn is very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this B & B. 5 stars from me!!

I stayed for a weekend in the spring of 2019.  The house was spotless and charming, the host very engaging and helpful.  What was described as a continental breakfast was quite bountiful--great coffee, croissants, yogurt, and fresh fruit.  I will stay again in a few weeks and probably every time I go to New Haven.

A very comfortable, beautiful house

We stated two nights while attending a wedding reception for friends.  The house is cosy and welcoming.  The hosts are accomodating and the location is both quiet and close to everything.  Other friends joined us for the second night and also found the inn to be a great place to stay.  The breakfast is continental and more than adequate.  All in all, a great place to stay and a nice get away from the usual hotel chains.

A quiet, homey B&B

My husband and I have stayed at the Austin St Inn several times while visiting family in New Haven.  The house is beautifully restored, and the owner and caretakers are gracious, warm, friendly places. Breakfast is simple, but always had good options, and it's delicious!  In addition to being close to New Haven, I really enjoy the proximity to West Rock, which is a great park with lots of running and walking trails and beautiful views of the city.

The inn itself is nice but nothing special.  It’s not in a great part of town,  it we were assured it was safe.  We were met at the car by Robert, one of the innkeepers.  He was a wonderful guy and put our breakfast out each day.  We thought the inn was a. It expensive for what you got.  We have stayed in dozens of b&bs.  This is one of very few that offers a continental breakfast.  Most of the places we stayed in Connecticut offered Continental breakfast for exorbitant prices.  No snacks, no drinks, no Keurig.  The room we had was nice and comfortable, but the bathroom has a huge sink with no place for you to put your stuff while you are getting ready.  We didn’t look around much, so I don’t know what the rest of the rooms were like.  We had a nice stay, but mostly we enjoyed talking to Robert.

Nice stay but a bit out of the way; great innkeepers

Austin Street Inn offers both the antique charm of an 1820-built grand residence and modern plumbing. No television or phones or laundry service or room service, but gracious, comfortable charm. The owners commit themselves to environmental concerns, but provide sumptuous towels and luxurious bed linens. Wifi is strong. Breakfast is healthy, with a variety of yogurt and fresh fruit and granola. Coffee comes from a boutique local coffee roaster. New Haven native manager/host Candace (pronounced "Kan-DAH-say") offers a local's insights into the Westville neighborhood and New Haven. 

Home Away From Home 

While on a solo trip around New England, I thought it ours be fun to try a B&B.  I'd stayed in one and thought it would be nice to spend some time with other people.  I was surprised when I arrived and no one was there.  I spent most of the time in the house alone.  The hosts came by and were nice enough to pick me up some food but they do not live in the house.  There was also a couple staying there but they were out most of the night.  The house is lovely and the room was very nice but I would have been better off just staying in a hotel.  I would have saved money and had the same experience.  Also, I expected breakfast but it was just yogurt, cereal, fruit and croissants.  I was pretty disappointed.

Great if you want to be alone

If you are traveling to New Haven, Ct. and need a good place to stay which isn't a hotel, I highly recommend the Austin Street Inn. This inn has been remodeled with very thoughtful restoration and is handicapped accessible. The rooms are clean and furnished with antiques. Breakfast is always prompt and delicious. The inn is staffed with very nice people who do everything to make your stay easy and comfortable. The air-conditioning was a window unit which was more than adequate. You will need a car or taxi to get into the center of New Haven.

A good alternative to a hotel

Candace is a very special hostess! She really takes care of you! I have a gluten allergy and she made me really good sweets and bread for my breakfast! the fruit was fresh and delicious! The house is beautiful and we had a huge room, with a nice bathroom and a big living room! The area is very quiet, you can hear the birds sing here in the morning! A very pleasant place!
