As we asked for a room the very friendly owner immediately showed us a room that we liked and therefore booked it . 
Our room was very clean and equipped with everything you need . WiFi was fast in our room , 268 . Breakfast is included .

A very nice stay in Carlsbad !

My room was clean and spacious.  The price was reasonable.  Breakfast wasn't much - though there was a waffle maker.

It is not new or fancy, but the bed was comfortable and climate control worked fine.  If you are looking for reasonably priced and safe accommodations in this area, I highly recommend this motel. It is right on the road to the Caverns, but if you need food or fuel, don't expect to find them farther south out of town.

This is where we will stay when I take my wife to see the caverns.

Better than the reviews

I wouldn't recommend this place or stay again. Not comfortable or well appointed. Clean enough, but not the best. If you like hard beds and pillows, a noisy heater/air conditioner and not so accommodating staff, this place is for you.

Hard beds, hard pillows

Okay, other than the no hairdryers, this place isn't bad. Very busy place but very quiet. No problems.
Didnt appreciate the sign in the breakfast room saying not to bring food into the rooms. Really? No breakfast food but the other food we bring is okay??? Doesnt make much sense...

NO HAIRDRYERS!!!

We were a party of 6 Germans, grandparents, parents and 2 teenagers on a road trip. The Rooms were clean and roomy. Our kids enjoyed the pool. The breakfast was OK. The price was low. What else would you need for an intermediate stop? I would stop there again when coming back to Carlsbad.

What you pay is what you get

Due to a huge oil field boom this once senior and tourist town has exploded with high paid workers and the motels in the area reflect this. Due to a family wedding here I searched for a decent priced room. I ended up paying a total of $90 for one night. The room was spacious with at couch and plush chair. It appeared clean, had a microwave/fridge, quiet even on a Saturday night, but no coffeemaker and basic soap/shampoo. I didn't eat the complimentary breakfast but had cereal, standdard small muffins and orange juice.

Easy to find and a reasonably priced room in a current oil boom town.

Carlsbad is close to the many caverns in Carlsbad Caverns national park, on the way to west Texas, and temporary home to many oil field workers. Motels are popping up all over and prices are currently in the $300 range. Great Western Inn is a simple no frills motel much less expensive than others. Breakfast is plain. Service is terrific. Local travel advice is helpful. The owners were prompt in getting some left items sent back to us. This is an excellent value for the money.

Excellent value and service in expensive town

No coffee makers in room. Not sure I would trust the cleanliness of the free breakfast either.  Recommendation...keep looking!!! If ya want early coffee, take your own brewer! Be sure to take a can of lysol too!

EEEK!  NO COFFEE SERVICE IN ROOM

We booked this hotel last minute for 2 nights.. We were pleased with its proximity to Carlsbad Caves. The gentleman at the desk was pleasant, gave us an upgraded room. There are no cheap hotels here, I guess due to the oil industry. The rooms are older but very clean, hot water, clean sheets and a firm mattress. Our room had a stove, microwave and fridge, none of which we used but if someone was traveling with kids or on a budget, it would be ideal. Breakfast wasn’t a big spread but there was cereal, waffles, toast, muffins, apples, juice and coffee. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back. We found it very quiet and close to lots of restaurants.

Convenient and clean

The only good thing I can say abut this place is I think the sheets on the bed were clean not sure of that even. Place is way over priced for the condition of room. The bath had mold in the shower and on the floor. The room was musty smelling. In general  it is run down and not maintained. We went from Arizona to Minnesota this was the highest priced
 and lowest quality room that we stayed in.
