Booked this hotel a month in advance for my Husband, kids, and I. Advertisement for the online deal was for a studio room king sized bed with an oceanfront view. Arrived and room was overlooked the bushes, trees, and volleyball court. Could see the water in the distance partially. Would not stay here again. False advertising, dirty window sills outdoors and in the room, dirty carpets, stains on blanket, hole in comforter, room hot as hell until windows forced open, mold along bath tub exterior, toilet running constantly, blinds dysfunctional in bathroom, did not want to go in pool due to all seen, and said by others when called around to other hotels which were all booked. No screens on windows to keep the bugs out of room. Had to stay here. Staff friendly and understanding but unable to do much with regard rot our concerns.

A room with no view

This place is on the beach and has a great view. But unless you are walking to the beach which is about 10min then I would suggest staying somewhere nicer and driving onto the beach like everyone else so you can bring a grill, chairs etc to hang out on the beach. 
The place is very old and needs major updating. The rooms are cute but again older. We had the family suite which was two adjoining rooms. One was with a king and had a small kitchenette - stove, microwave, coffee maker and small fridge and small table with chairs. 
The other room 2 fills with a small table also and 2 chairs, smaller fridge, microwave and coffee maker. 
No hair dryer in either room. The provide a packet of lotion, shampoo, body gel - just one of each and two packets of makeup remover. I’m sure you could ask for more. 
Didn’t check out the pool. 
They do have WiFi 
They do allow pets for $25 per pet, I think each night. We only stayed one night. 
For the price we paid $500 would have stayed somewhere else but also most places wouldn’t allow a one night only stay. 
Here’s the one thing that put my review at a 2. We found a bag with a laptop and keys in one of the drawers which means that even in this time of covid the rooms were not thoroughly checked which may also mean cleaned. 
So all in all for this price a better place could be found. 

Wasn’t terrible but not for me

this is the worst motel we have ever stayed in. Only 1 electrical outlet works,bathroom door had was falling off,no towels when we arrived, no coffee when we arrived, no early check-in and I mean not at all supposedly do to needing time to clean. This is the dirtiest motel I have ever been in. 
Sorry I will not be back $600.00 for 2 nights was just insane.

Worst motel

My family and I visited Ocean Shores this month over  Memorial Day. The room was rustic and felt like a cabin.

Nonetheless, still lots of room for improvement. Needs a lot of work still, very unkempt. In terms of the improvement, to start check in took a long time. They need more help at the front desk and need to modernize and completely remodel.

Second, the WiFi was very spotty and forced us to just use data because we often lost the connection.

Third, the room looked pattered. There was a rip on the door handle, trash under one of the queen beds, and a poster that was partially ripped. It looked very unprofessional...got to have better presentation than that for your guests.

Fourth, in terms of breakfast, we had to go off site to purchase it as there were not even to go items made available to guests. I understand things can’t be served still because of COVID-19 but why not make snacks and juice or milk at least available for the taking for guests? 

The ceiling also look like it was going to cave-in on us but of course it didn’t. In addition, the door needs a deadbolt as we often had to work hard to prevent our toddler from escaping out of the room and had to get creative in doing so. it felt very 20th century and really needs a lot of work to make it look a lot neater in the room. 

Additionally, I had to inquire about quiet hours. We heard a number of disputes and yelling going on at all hours of the night but thankfully were able to get to sleep. The hotel needs to make sure they are enforcing these rules to create the most comfortable and best experience for their guests. Not doing so is creating an unpleasant experience and atmosphere for the people paying money to stay at their establishment. 

The outdoor deck facing the ocean was also very unkempt and tattered. That sort of presentation should not be acceptable and needs to be addressed immediately. It made the hotel feel very run down and third rate. I understand that the hotel has gotten new ownership and they are working on making things better. They still have a lot of work to do.

I do however want to commend the lady that checked us in. She was very gracious and apologized for the wait. That was nice of her and very professional. She just needed a lot more help and should not be left to check in everybody by herself.

We will likely not be staying at this establishment again and recommend that everybody be aware before choosing to go here. The only way we would return is if the ownership group invests a significant amount of additional money to refurbish and make the place look a lot more presentable and more pleasant for everyone. This hotel still needs a ton of work. Even the sign out front looks old, worn down, and just doesn’t look neat.

So-So.

My fiancé and I spontaneously decided to go to to Ocean Shores to try razor clam digging and sneak in a weekend get away. It seemed a busy weekend for the Sands, but the staff were super friendly, accommodating, and was able to get us a room at last notice. While this is an older hotel, there’s a quaint charm about it, the rooms were clean and spacious. Our room had a kitchenette with all the essentials needed to cook a meal. The hotel’s location has access to the water! Another perk is, it’s pet friendly! Definitely will be coming back next time with our puppy. 

Quaint hotel with great potential!

The Room and hotel was clean, staff very friendly. I would say to make sure you make a call to see what is and is not open/working/being served before you come.
I packed swim suit because I read only hot tub was out of service and to my surprise when we arrived it was all shut down.  Breakfast at this time is Donuts and coffee only which worked out. but a lil surprised by that also. They are a work in progress and everything is clean. that is my most important deal. The Staff is super sweet and very accommodating! Will be back.. I think my only concern is the Key pad room entry. I would rather have a more security safe method than a key pad with a number that would be easy for anyone to figure if they wanted to ...

Awesome Experience Nice friendly staff!

The Sands isn't a brand new bougie hotel, but it's clean and cute and is right by the ocean--you can walk outside your room and be at the beach in a minute. The staff were friendly and responsive. It's got a cozy local feel to it and we had a good time getting to know other folks staying at the hotel. Highly recommended for an affordable weekend away with the family.

Pleasant hotel getaway, friendly staff and great location

The Sands is great! Stayed for 4 days with 5 kids. The hotel is getting some upgrades. Our room was clean. The staff was wonderful. We have stayed here many times in recent years and I find that this hotel is the best fit for my family and our needs.

Winter vacation with kids!

My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary by staying at the same hotel that we stayed at on our honeymoon. Although it's an older hotel and has no handicap rooms, the manager Tina did her best to put us in a ground floor room that we could access. Our room was clean and in good repair and Tina went out of her way to make our stay a pleasant one. We intend on making this an annual anniversary event and plan on coming back in January next year. Thanks Tina.

Pleasant place to stay

Trash in our room, we told the housekeeper that the people above us were extremely loud all night (Christmas Eve) she informed us that it was her. We asked for Coffee the next morning (Christmas) the owner told us it was 'dirty brown water'. The pools were not available, the hot tub was broken, the burner in the room had pink plastic melted on it, so we couldn't cook if we wanted too. Were told our rate was $43 a night but was charged $168. Looking online is $31 a night but we didnt get that rate. I wont be going back. Absolutely upset that even after we explained how loud people were it didnt stop them.
