Olney

The rooms have been renovated and bathrooms are terrific. The breakfast in the restaurant is still excellent. The best bright spot was a family dinner for 50 people we had on Saturday night. It was a buffet but they had a wedding reception at the same time. The food was delicious, hot and plenty for the price. The staff had a lot to juggle with the Two events but did it well. Will use them again for our family reunion events. Very very pleased with the new management.

The Holiday is nothing extravagant by any means. For the price they charge it’s a great value. I’ve stayed multiple times and in both the older rooms and the remodeled rooms. The remodeled rooms are definitely an upgrade from the 1970s tiled bathrooms 😂. It’s straight up a basic place to stay. It’s not the ritz Carlton like a lot of people seem to expect. But the rooms are clean, the beds are actually comfortable and don’t kill my back. There’s a full bar with beer, booze, and wine. The front desk employees have always been friendly and make check in easy even with an old school system. I am still waiting to be able to get breakfast here as I’ve heard it’s good. The drivers at the company I work for utilize this hotel quite often. I have had dinner here before. I happened upon a buffet by chance one evening. There was a Rotary meeting that night and once that group has their first round at the buffet, it’s opened to the rest of the public and kept open and replenished. They had ribs and chicken and sides to go with. I was not disappointed at all. The burgers are pretty good too. I have heard good of the steak but haven’t tried it for myself yet. Maybe next time. Tonight I had the honey cashew chicken. I’m on the fence with that one. The chicken itself was done great. Juicy and tender. My baked potato was very obviously microwaved and not the greatest. The soup was pretty good! But just like any place things will be hit n miss. I’ve had a lot worse experiences in places that were brand new and cost twice as much. 

To the people saying the rooms are old and dated. They’ve been remodeling over time and continue to update rooms. If you get an outside room it can be noisy, but that comes with any place of the sort. Brand new hotels are staying away from carpet and the noise transfer is horrid. The inside rooms are much better. So if you’re worried about noise request an inside room and you’ll be fine. If you want new, fancy, and overpriced there’s a best western down the road for about $170 a night. But they don’t have a restaurant. They might have a bar. If it’s open. 

I’ll take this place over an overpriced bed any time. Especially when there’s somewhere to sit down and eat my dinner, get a friendly smile and even have a bit of conversation over a drink or beer!  Oh did I mention towels shaped in to roses… or my favorite so far a teddy bear?

What you should expect for a value hotel

Day 13 of my 2 week independent motel/hotel trip.  This was the only day I didn't reserve head of time.  I was hoping to luck into something better in this vicinity, but nothing popped up.  This place seems like a 70's or 80's hotel that just trudges along, serving travelers and people fishing.  Not a lot of the rooms were used on a Sunday night.  The room is good sized, the beds are old, but this was the first night this entire trip I woke up without any back ache(that I always get after 6+ hours sleep on road trips) so I can't knock it.    Internet was solid, shower had really good pressure.  Nothing was dirty, bed/sheets just not top of the line.  If you're traveling through, it's actually a good choice if you're not fussy.

It works

This motel is old, tired and not updated. The rooms smelled stale. Will find a newer place next time. (Friends from Olney did not recommend the place, but it was close so we stayed there anyway. Big mistake)

Find somewhere else

Glad I didn't rate it based on the first night, as there was a lot of noise outside our room (thoughtless guests and maintenance men.
After the first night, it was fine. We stayed 3 nights. The rooms have been updated and are nice, not elegant, but nice. Also very clean and stocked with amenities. Towels and sheets were clean. A big plus is the restaurant. Very good food and service!

Decent place to stay

Very nIce hotel. We ate at the restaurant-great food. We had a lovely updated room. We sat outside in the patio area late both evenings and visited with family and friends. We will definitely stay again!

In Olney for a wedding

We normally stay at another Hotel in town and gave this one a shot due to an indoor pool.  Turns out the pool was closed from 8 to 9 for an event.  Then it was cold and the hot tub was 85 degrees.  There was a Prom going on until 11 pm with music so loud, no way you could get sleep.  So if you want to be rested or need to be up bright and early, stay elsewhere!!  There priority clearly isn't well rested guest.  If you want to go to the bar and play slots, it is for you!  We ate dinner at the restaurant, very good eats.  Just don't plan on getting sleep if you stay here!!!

Regrets

We had two rooms. All four of the mattresses were different. That really makes no difference, but it was a little funny. Two of the beds had clean sheets. We were lucky there, because when we called the desk and told them there was hair on the pillows and debris in the beds, we learned that they had no clean sheets to give us. We were also lucky that they had a plunger, because they had no maintenance person to unclog the toilet in one of the rooms. We were also exceedingly lucky that we still had that plunger when we discovered that the sink in the same room was completely stopped up. The front desk was very friendly and accommodating when we needed cleaning supplies to clean up the splashing around the sink from having had to use the toilet plunger in it. They gave us a spray bottle with a little disinfectant spray and a half roll of paper towels.

We felt pretty lucky that the hot tub held 4 people snugly and that it wasn't too hot.... 90 something degrees. But I think we were probably the luckiest that no one sinister came in through the back doors that had no locks whatsoever (only holes and duct tape where there might have once been a lock). 

Oh yeah, we were also lucky that we didn't have to get a good night's sleep for anything important the next day. The family next door yelled and cried a whole lot. Dad, who was drinking quite heavily, was spending his last night together with his kids before the kids were going to move out of state due to divorce. We could hear it all. Their situation was so upsetting and heartbreaking that I cried for them. Then the construction guys were up and at 'em by 8:30 on a Saturday morning, which was just loud and annoying.

Ok first and for most this place is AWESOME 👍👍👍. If you want a place to feel at home this is the place to stay. Rooms are clean everyone is friendly and very welcoming. I would without a doubt stay here again and recommend this motel to anyone I talk to. 

You have to stay here 

Nice  and friendly staff Good prices..... Tired hotel. Needs brighter lights in hallways. They are dark and not welcoming.  Hotel needs updating inside and out.  But I love the old swings outside from years gone by .
