This was a stay with a group of friends.   The place is quite rustic and country-like.  The room was comfortable and clean, with windows overlooking the trees.  There is a huge wrap-around porch with chairs which was great for socializing and also a big living room.  The cabins have microwaves and mini-fridges, but the rooms do not.  The caretaker was very friendly and helpful.  Great location, although you do hear the noise from the road.   A couple of things…the “continental breakfast” is quite minimal, with a few pastries and instant coffee.  And the inside common areas were very musty and damp-feeling.  It  might be helpful to have a couple of dehumidifiers or space heaters to dry it out.

A rustic country experience.

My stay reminded me of going to an old, abandoned house, musty, dusty and the low point, trash from the previous occupant still in the bathroom

Plus it is not near the highway, it is (essentially) on the highway, loud and unpleasant

The host is super friendly but that is poor recompense for the miserable conditions 

Musty and dirty

The owners are very nice but they are older and the place is just not clean. The house has a very musty odor (probably mold). The breakfast is quite meager: packaged danish and packets of instant oatmeal. Why not a little fresh fruit? One of our group stayed in a cabin which was better than the house and included a wood burning fireplace which was ready to light. There is a laundromat next door and a mediocre restaurant.

Try to get a cottage, don't stay in the house

We stay at Silver maple a couple of times a year,  We love the detached cottages with fireplaces.  Wonderful to sit out on the front porch with a drink in the evening or coffee in the morning. 

A great location and we are never disappointed!

Scott always makes you feel welcome

If you are trying to escape to a simpler time this B&B is a great place to stay. 

The quaint bedroom in the main house was spotless. Our private bathroom has wonderful water pressure. The bed was extremely comfortable. 

Scott, the owner, is personable. He has an extensive knowledge of the area. His suggestions for dining were right on target. 

The rooms upstairs do not have televisions, telephones or air conditioning. Hence the return to a simpler time. The weather was in the mid eighties, but with an open window and a fan, it was quite cool. 

It reminded me of staying with my Nana as a child  complete with the slightly musty smell of the furniture. The screen porch featured comfortable chairs for relaxing and reading. The landscape is beautiful. 

There was a light continental breakfast served in the morning. Strong hot coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and juice.  A selection of local quick breads and muffins were offered 
The addition of fresh fruit and yogurt would be welcome. 

My husband and I would be happy to stay here again. The price is reasonable  the rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable, and the host was pleasant and helpful.

Loved our stay!

I booked this place as a last resort on holiday weekend when skiing at Killington, VT. It is an hour and 15 minutes away but the drive is scenic through historic Woodstock and other quant venues. The place was booked with overflow skiers this weekend. It was clean and the owner Scott was very welcoming. As I was one of the first to register he graciously gave me a room with a private bath.
It is admittedly "no frills" but a welcome change from the usual chain hotels. And the price was very reasonable, only about $100 when others were charging 200-300 per night. i am happy to recommend Silver Maple.

Comfy and Clean

Read the terrible reviews before you commit to staying here. They are accurate. The main lodge clearly has a humidity problem. The musty smell is overwhelming. Most people would just walk out at that point. But it was late and we stayed. The smell wasn't as bad upstairs where the rooms are. However, by morning my sinuses were plugged. I would caution anyone who has any type of lung issue, too. The air in the Inn is not healthy to breathe. The Inn is very close to the interstate so there is a noise issue. We had the window open to air out the room, but had to shut it due to the loud noise from trucks going by. We couldn't sleep after 4:00 am so we were gone before breakfast. Also accurate is that the owner, Scott, is very friendly and personable. The Inn was pretty clean, but not spotless. The tub had stains, but it was probably clean; though I chose to not use it. It is very old and you can do only so much with very old stuff. It's true that the doors don't close tight due to sagging floors. So we did not lock our door at night. But it felt safe there. And even if the door locked, there is access to the room from the adjoining room. The door that separtates the two rooms had no lock on our side of the door. So anyone could have entered our room at night. If  you don't mind a moldy smell and are looking for a very old building with old furnishings, at a relatively cheap price, this is it. But consider driving a bit further, spending a little more, and getting something better.

Not for anyone with sinus issues

We spent two nights at this cozy place with a Hot Air Balloon Package as the main treat for my husband's 70th birthday. The Silver Maple is about 10 minutes from the Post Mills Airport where renown balloonist Brian Boland operates. What an experience! We floated above the clouds, to over 6000 feet, and he told storied the entire time. Scott, the Silver Maple innkeeper, saw us sailing over. To return to our knotty pine cabin with champagne and a crackling fire was beyond celebratory.

We picked this lodge for the quaint setting. Scot was very nice and we were comfortable. Breakfast is small but enough. The prices are great.  It is close to 91 but easy to get on in their morning to head out. 

Long weekend

We've stayed here with family - several generations - in cabins with convenient air conditioned rooms (that's not a given in this part of the world). Being able to be together in cabins with separate room and baths was perfect. It also works for visits to children in nearby camps and/or connecting with other family staying nearby. A longtime standby, it's a well-known, reliable place in the area and near to many other area attractions.It's in no way "fancy" or anything like a hotel or motel, but for the purpose of a group being together for a casual, fun time it's perfect. It works. And the owners are great.
