They held us random on a booking error only moments after booking wrong dates in error.  We should have used a cc but not Venmo.   They lied that we had booked weeks earlier and so didn’t qualify.   We accept a 50% credit toward another stay.   Only to find the place falling apart and one of the owners aggressively pursuing me despite being with my partner.

It seems they are closed.   Kharma.

Out of Business? Couldn’t happen to more deserving owners.

when ever we travel to any gay resorts or areas of interest i always take into consideration of who is writing the reviews that I am reading . For the most part Homos are pretty over the top and are even more so when writing reviews . They want all of us to believe that they are very sophisticated travelers with impeccable taste so no matter how the well in keepers run the ship it will never be to their liking .    My Partner and I love the Bear Foot Inn and the keepers of the Inn were wonderful to us during our stay . It was very affordable and extremely comfortable . If you follow the very few and easy rules and remain aware that there are other guests you will also have a wonderful time. We made some friends and had some amazing evenings hanging out at the pool enjoying conversation from other smart and unpretentious folks who just there for a good time and relaxation.

We had a very pleasant stay

I just returned from a 5 day stay at the Bearfoot Inn and can say I was very pleasantly surprised after reading all the negative reviews on here.  It was a delight.  Stylish, clean and impeccably maintained and the owners were friendly, helpful and welcoming.  I have stayed at many gay resorts in Palm Springs and this is really one of the best, particularly when you consider their rates.  It's small (11 rooms) and seems to attract an older crowd who, by the way, were friendly and sociable.  I recommend it without reservation.

Very Pleasant Surprise

This place has become run down and is in desperate need of a refresh. The furniture veneer is peeling off the bedside tables, dresser, and mirror over the sink. There is mold in the shower, towels that were once white are now a dingy grey, and there is obviously missing patio furniture. 

But all of that is not the worst of what you're experience would be. The owners, Glenn and Jerry, are absolutely the worst part of the experience. There are strict rules for guests and if not followed precisely expect screaming and disrespect. All guests tip toe around them trying to make sure they don't become the target of their displeasure. 

Their major rule is complete quiet after 10:00. They apparently don't get along well with neighbors and have had issues with them. The owners live on the property. Funny how they don't see any problem screaming at guests and slamming doors in anger but they are infuriated if they hear laughter outside after 10:00. You know because people on vacation should be in bed by 10:00 and god forbid there should be laughter while on vacation. 

Don't even think about reminding them that they are in the hospitality business and should be hospitable. You will quickly be cursed at and disrespected. Two take aways from this experience. One, they obviously dislike what they do, and two, they dislike their customers even more. This place is a totally toxic environment and sure to ruin your time in one of America's best cities.

Owners create a totally toxic environment

I’ve stayed at the barefoot inn previously and my last view said that there was some needed improvements. 

It’s sad that the owners haven’t taken notice of some of the feedback. 

Rather than pick at small issues/problems, here is what I found to bother me the most.

1. The Water - the water clearly has a lot of minerals in it. This is evident from the build up on the shower heads, taps and coffee maker. This hotel really needs to install a filter to prevent this from occurring. Whilst I have no doubt the water was safe, I couldn’t bring myself to drink it or even use it for coffee. 

2. Changes due to Covid - Daily housekeeping has been suspended as well as morning coffee/pasty service. Whilst this may have been the case early on in the pandemic, there is little reason as to why those services are still suspended at present. If you aren’t going to do daily housekeeping, please ensure your guests know when you are going to change towels etc. 

3. The pool is like a bath - a shade sail is really needed here. Based on passed reviews, I was not game enough to move an umbrella to provide some shade! 

4. Cleaning - we had a room with a kitchen and I honestly was not game enough to use anything - the quality of the cleaning left me a little concerned.

I honestly feel the barefoot inn as a huge amount of potential… it honestly is a wonderful place and we always make friends when we visit. Please up your game just a little - we aren’t asking you to become a 5 star hotel!

Nothing has Improved Since My Last Visit :(

Due Your diligence and read as many￼ reviews as possible about this property and Believe the reviews that discuss the UNFRIENDLINESS of the host at this property,  THEY’RE ALL TRUE!

Before I go into detail regarding my above statement, I’ll point out the few positives of this property:

1. Location, close to downtown & Arenas
2. COLD A/C in rooms (decor nothing special but not bad, comfy bed)
3. The King Suite had adequate kitchen with supplies
4. Water Pressure was strong in shower (which leaked water everywhere on the floor)
5. Mini Safe in closet
6. Pool is adequate, saltwater, nothing special (pool furniture old/dated/faded)
7. Grounds look nice because they’re rarely used

Now, here are my reasons why this property gets 3 stars…….

From the moment you ring the front bell, you’re greeted by the owner who is the most unfriendly, cantankerous, curmudgeon of a person that should leave the hospitality￼ industry immediately!  He invites you in the gate and immediately points to a poster on their window outlining all the amenities they don’t offer:   No food/drink services, no housekeeping, 1 key per room, no others allowed in gates other than registered guests, no this, no that, social distance from everyone, especially them! 

When you inquire about fresh linens or towels, he snaps Your head off and says don’t mess up your sheets while you’re here for the next three nights and if you don’t like the rules you can leave now!￼ But Of course he carries an iPad with him to immediately take your credit card and charge you for your full stay. So if you leave, you lose your money!￼

Now keep this in mind, this is supposed to be a gay men’s clothing optional resort! Nothing resort about it.  

If you’re looking for a good and fun time staying at a fun game men’s clothing optional resort, stay somewhere else!￼

My husband and I unpacked and went down to the pool to get some sun. I’m more of a son lover than my husband as he has fair skin. There were a few umbrellas around the pool area that were not open. My husband grabbed one of them and rolled it over between our lounge chairs. He open the umbrella which provided him with shade and me with son. Almost immediately, the curmudgeon gate keeper came over, Did not approve that he moved the umbrella to where we were lounging and moved it back over to where it originally was and suggested my husband go lay on the grass.  There were no other individuals laying around the pool or in the pool. We now know why!￼

When we arrived I asked if there was a barbecue available as we like to barbecue our meals when we’re visiting since we had a full kitchen in our room. We were told they do not have a barbecue. However, there was a gas grill peaking around the corner near the outside shower. I barbecue at least three times a week and if that’s not a barbecue, I don’t know what it is.￼

I’m an early riser and on vacation, I let my husband sleep in. I make myself coffee and I go sit in the hot tub.￼ The Owner obviously does not want you to use the hot tub because he keeps it at at least 105°, and this is in 113° weather. Furthermore,￼ When we first got there, I jumped in the pool and realized the heater was on and the water was warm enough again for 113° weather. I only suggested to the owner that he could turn the heater off and his response was￼ “well you’re not the only guest are you?”  WTF?

Furthermore, I was getting out of the hot tub jumping into the pool going back into the hot tub because I had to cool off because it was so hot. While I was in the pool and one of my cool off moments, this miserable of a host comes storming out and barrages me for not manually turning off the timer to the hot tub. I explained I was going back-and-forth between the pool & the hot tub and then I didn’t want to continually mess with the timer. He again mumbled a few disparaging comments under his breath, turned off the hot tub and went back into his locked￼ room.  

At that point, we decided We would only spend time on this property to sleep￼, take a QUICK dip In the pool and plan our next escape to a more pleasurable location in Palm Springs.￼

Honestly people, These owners are in the hospitality business and they are the complete opposite of hospitable. Do not contribute your hard earned money to this place.  It’s miserable and SAD! Depressing environment AND NO FUN AT ALL!  They don’t allow you to play music at the pool, they don’t allow you to do this, they don’t allow you to do that, but they do allow you to pay them your money right up front hoping you might just take them up on their offer and leave without a refund.￼

Lots more places to stay in Palm Springs That are a lot more fun and they truly appreciate your patronage especially after COVID!

the more and more i read the reviews from yelp and google.. Im Noticing they might be rasict becuase most of the reviews are  from minorty, or just tired of the business and should sale it.. owners/managent is rude they ask to be quite after 7pm no music.. no talking loudly ..

Owners are mean!!!!!!

I have stayed at the Bearfoot over 30 times in the last 10y years.  I am always warmly welcomed.  You can be social with other guests as much or as little as you like.  The owners always treat me well.  The location is great...only a $4.00 - $5.00 Uber to Arenas area and walking distance to great shopping and dining.  The Bearfoot tends to cater to an older, bearish population and said admirers.  Summer rate specials are terrific!

Home-Away-From-Home

Mold in shower, toilet that leaks, air-conditioner (that actually works really well) blew against the 1990's blinds over the sliding doors that vibrated all night. Dated furniture (bed was great). We got attitude from owners/manager when we asked of new towels and bedding after our second night. Breakfast is powered donuts and bagels. Kitchen sink was filthy. Pool area is cool. Bar and BBQ never opened during our stay (admittedly we were only one of two couples in the entire place). We definitely got a not too friendly vibe from hosts. A bottle of our Aesop moisturizer was smashed upon our return from a day trip. The guy who cleaner our room said he found it that way. I think I would have noticed if I dropped a glass container onto the bathroom floor (I likely left the lid loose and it fell when he picked it up to wipe the small table beneath (which by the way the way is the only tiny surface in the bathroom). It's too bad. It's a cute place with potential. 

Disappointing!

The room was ok, but no more than that, it was very dusty, dirty in the corners, and the floor Sticky. The aircon attached to our room was broken and keept us awake at night.
The pool area was fine, but the pool water oily and full of bugs. Breakfest was a joke.
The guests who was in the hotel were cute & friendly, but the good vibes ends on that note............
 The host was extremely hostile and uncomfortable, we experienced him screaming & shouting at some of the other guests on the first day, before it became our own turn on departure.
30min before check out, we and the other guests at the pool area were rudely asked to go to our rooms and pack so that it could be cleaned, when we checked out and kindly asked for a day pass, that a guest in front of us had received for $10 the day before, he literally asked us to shut the f... up or he would start shouting (which he already did....), for this place was not a place of losers like us, and og we though that hos place was a f....ing cerity case, this even though we just rented a room for 2 days, so we just had to go back to our nasty country again.  Shocking ..... We never wish for anybody else to exsperience the worst host in the buisness of hotels and resorts
