There's a few points that can't be forgiven, motel has raw-painted walls, no mirrors, no pictures on the wall, shower under all the cannons, beds with disgusting sunroofs made unnecessary, everything stinks terrible. During the sturgis bike week, it's still horribly overpriced, over $200 a night. An absolute discount for people who got nothing else. After our complaint, we were complimented in a different room, slightly better than the last one.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do that.

I had a secured reservation at the local Ramada Inn. They cancelled it for no apparent reason and recommended the Western Thrifty Inn. This place is just bad. Dirty, worn out, very poor service and noisy. A bad neighborhood included at no extra charge. My room didn't even have a place to hang cloths or a towel rack. 

Do yourself a favor and stay any place but here.

The owners should be ashamed

My husband & I paid next to nothing for our room here and we should have just paid a little more for a halfway decent room somewhere else.  It feels sketchy and unsafe.  The room was stale-smelling and there wasn't even a towel rack.  It took us a while to figure out how to turn the single light on since it didn't turn on when we flipped the switch.   When we arrived just before 9pm on a Monday night, it looked closed!

Never Again

Thrifty means, "thriving by industry and frugality" or "given to or marked by economy and good management".  So, for starters, the name is misleading...  The Western Thrifty Inn is a renovated dump in a bad section of Rapid City.  

As others have mentioned, we also signed papers in the small sweltering hot office that stated we wouldn't smoke in the rooms or drink alcohol outside the rooms.  The young man who checked us in was very nice and accommodating, allowing us to move our room to be next to our friends, etc.  The owner and other people that worked there were also very nice.

When we got to our rooms we were greeted by locals asking for money.  As we opened the door to our room we were blasted with the smell of cheap air freshener that smelled like flowers mixed with cigarette smoke...  On first glance, the room SEEMED clean.  And, we did have clean towels/sheets ALMOST everyday, and our garbage collected ALMOST everyday.  The rooms do not have closets, which we thought was odd. So, we left some things in the drawers, dresser tops, and on the floor.  The beds were pretty comfortable and the air conditioner and refrigerator worked.  We didn't have to use the plunger which was behind the toilet.  They do have coin operated washers and dryers which was nice for us because we packed light as we were traveling by motorcycle.

I made the mistake of walking around in my white socks which, after just getting ready in the morning were, no joke, PITCH BLACK on the bottom.   I've washed them 3 times and can't fully get the stains out.  I promptly picked my things up off the floor from that point on.  After further inspection we discovered multi-colored stains on the box springs of our beds.  This place was pretty nasty and was not worth the $750/wk, the week before Sturgis.  In fact, I wouldn't stay there again if they paid me!

Should be called the Western THRIFTLESS Inn...

It wasn't the cleanest place. Sheets had stains. Also didn't feel safe since you only used a regular key to get in on the door knob. And when you open the door, it seems like people has been breaking into there. It did have a mircrowave and fridge though.haha

Pay more and go somewhere.

I stupidy booked 2 rooms on another website without reading the reviews, When we got there we had to call for someone to come to the Office that was a 3X3 Foot room filled with new  toilet seats and other items. We signed several pieces of paper promising to keep the rooms clean and not smoke in the rooms etc. Once that was done the manager left and we went to the rooms and discovered they were TERRIBLE - One stunk of sewage like the toilet had backed up, everything was discusting. Dirty and worn. The linens in the other room had stains, the heater was totally uncovered and the room was a dump. We immediately went back and re called the manager who REFUSED to come check out the problems and told us he couldn't do anything about the room conditions and if we didn't like it to leave the keys in the room and depart. There were several people on the other side, in rooms smoking and drinking in and outside with kids running around playing tag ( AT 10 P.M. ) making noise. THIS PLACE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE LISTED ON ANY WEBSITE for rooms.
