I stayed here for two nights while bicycling across the North Woods. A large motel with ample parking. The room was large, quiet and clean. The owners were helpful. Reasonable prices. A block from one of Escanaba's great pasty stores, Would stay here again.

Good stay on outskirts of Escanaba

it was so comforting to stay at a pet friendly motel that is clean and nice! Because we do not like to travel without our baby (Rosco our dog) I highly recommend Hiawatha motel very friendly, the owner Amber is very accommodating! The pricing is very very affordable, And yet so clean and friendly!  Next time we are in escanaba we will be definitely staying at Hiawatha motel!

A wonderful experience staying here!

The staff were very courteous and accommodating. I was in the area for a concert and didn't have a room for Saturday night. The owner and her family cleaned out a room that was storing furniture for future remodels and put together a beautiful room for us to resort to following the concert. The rooms were clean and the hotel was quiet. Highly recommend!

Will be back!

My husband and I spent a night here coming through the area.  I’m surprised by the reviews because of the following.  The entrance area around the door had sawdust all around and the door itself was scratched and could’ve used a fresh coat of paint.  We stayed in an “updated” jacuzzi suite.  It was very clean.  It was nicely updated with new paint, furniture, lighting, etc. but the jacuzzi tub and surrounding mirrors and tile were right out of the 70s.  The tub was very worn looking, and in my opinion the room would have been better served to remove it.  The shower had the weirdest shower head arrangement I’ve ever seen.  Two shower heads in a 5ft fiberglass shower unit.  Knobs were confusing and since we’d used the jacuzzi there was no hot water.  Lastly we were charged a service fee for using a credit card which I had to ask about when I realized the amount charged didn’t match our bill.  Also lots of signs on the office about not renting to locals, and the door was locked and you had to ring the doorbell to get the owner.  Not what I was hoping for but it seems the area doesn’t have many 4 or 5 star accommodations to choose from.

Simple, straightforward, nice accommodation.

I have stayed at the Hiawatha Motel several times and have had consistently clean rooms, comfortable beds and friendly staff.

Family owned and run by people who work hard to please.

It’s no wonder they are always full! A true hidden gem. Can’t wait to come back!

Clean, Comfy, Convenient

Our group were in a pinch to find lodging in the middle of tourist season in Escanaba.  My sister happened to call the Hiawatha Motel.  They wiggled our reservations around to be able for all of us to stay together at the motel.  We were in the need of 5 rooms and they did it!  It was clean, comfortable, convenient for our travels and very reasonable.  The owners were extremely accommodating  and helpful in every way.    We felt right at home.  You couldn't ask for better in Escanaba.  Truly enjoyable even under the circumstances.

Needed lodging in a hurry.  Funeral.

Even under Covid precautions this motel is clean and friendly at a bargain price. Renovated room was spotless. Close to downtown the staff made great suggestions  for dining and local sights to see. Not far from the Historic downtown neighborhood, it’s  a great budget travel resource. 

Cute clean and comfortable 

I stayed here the first night of a two week solo UP trip. I chose to stay in mostly older stip motels from the 40s and 50s when I could find a decent one. Hiawatha Motel in Escanaba was the best one; spoiled me for the rest of the trip! I stayed in one of the remodeled rooms; completely redone to contemporary but simple interiors, Pergo-style “wood” floors, new fixtures and furniture, all in a tastefully modern pallet. Loved it! Slept like a rock. Richard offered suggestions for waterfalls and sights in the area, the room had a microwave and a fridge, there was a complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby. It was a lovely stay, centrally locally in Escanaba, and VERY reasonable. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Wonderful little Mom & Pop Motel!

We stayed here end of August for one night. The owners are extremely friendly and very helpful in giving recommendations in the area and beyond. We had one of the recently renovated rooms which was very nice and had everything you need. Breakfast was included in the price. 

A friendly place to stay

excellent all the way around. friendly, clean,service, quiet, will stay again very helpful, good beds, very private, no smokers in rooms, nice chairs and benches outside, lots of area around to walk pets, great breakfast amenities, even biker towels to wipe off bikes and windshields in am. highly recommend
