My family stayed here while passing through, we wanted to be close to the University so we could visit. My daughter is covered in bug bites, the lighting was bad and the rooms did not look clean.  I wish we had spent a little more and stayed somewhere else.  There was a coffee maker in our room, but it was dirty and we did not use it. 

Would not stay again

I recently took my family in a trip. We passed thru Reno, NV. Upon looking for hotels the evening of, the only place within reasonable prices and with the pictures showing an "ok" place to put my family up for the night was the University Inn. I was told over the phone when making my reservation the price for 2 joining rooms was  $59 each room. Upon checking in, the price went up from $59 to $69, before taxes. I explained the rate I was quoted at the time my reservation was made, but the manager disagreed. Fine, I just needed to get my kids to the room after a long day in the car. The rooms smelled horrible like cigarettes  (non-smoking rooms), and later we figured out why. The curtains were not hanging completely over the windows, I had to use my hair clip to shut them. The dead bolt lock to my kids room did not work. The towels were stained and dirty looking. The smoke alarms were disabled and removed from the ceiling. The heater did not work in my room due to the power strip turning off. I called the front desk and the manager came to our rooms. He was very rude and in a threatening way said if we didn't like it we could leave and I'd still be billed for the rooms. He could re-sell the rooms for $89. It was too late in the night to leave and I wasn't paying for something and not using it. Throughout the night there was screaming, crying and car alarms going off in our building. Please do not stay here! Save your money and don't be fooled by the online photos.

Management pictures outdated. Deceiving add. Claims refrigerator microwave available upon request but at a cost. Same with pets. No ironing board,iron or coffee pot. Room filthy carpet very dirty. Grounds not kept up gives a good indication of what the rest of the place looks like. No indication by owners to upgrade. 
Booked through Hotels.com and complained to them directly. They credited the stay and also called the motel. 
Skip this place. Sleep in your car. 

Is there a grade below terrible?

I feel sorry i did not read this review before. Booked thru hotwire. It was real bad experience. the toilet was not flushed when we went in. when we tried to flush it we realised it is choked. Called the manager he came with the plunger to fix it. then he left the plunger there in room telling if it chokes again please fix it.  i was shoked ot hear it. but then the tolet started over flowing with poop water and he started blaming as if toilet overflowing was my issue. when i raised my voice he said ge the hell out of my place . he kick us out becasue we complained the toilet leaked water and poop water was all over the floor .i have photo of this when it started to leak to carpet.  

I am shocked that hotwire will put any property on thier site and they were not willing ot fix the issue.. i had to end up booking another room. hotwire said that it was my problem to dela with the owner. this place must be shut down

Worst place i ever stayed in America till date

My wife booked online through a booking site without checking the reviews first which turned out to be a big mistake. We arrive and the outside looks pretty bad, run down and dumpy with tweekers walking around the property. I go inside the office and speak with the manager (a middle eastern man) he refused to give his name. I tell him I wanted to see the room before i actually checked in. The room was dirty and smelled musty. The beds were flat and linens actually stunk. I spoke with my wife and agreed to go elsewhere. I started the recorder on my phone as I didn't trust this place, I told the manager we wouldn't be staying here. I said to the manager "There is no cancellation fee, is this correct?" to which he replied "there's no fee" I then said "so we are all good?" to which he replied "yes, have a good day" As soon as I drove away he charged my credit card!!! I immediately called the booking site, explained everything to them and played the audio recording. They actually called him and told him he wrongly charged my card and that they heard the conversation. He refused to refund the card. I then called him and he told me to go F*%k myself! I drove back up there and he called me a F*%#king American! I wanted to destroy him, but knew what the outcome would be. He is obviously a pro at ripping people off! He is a thief! We never stayed there because it was absolutely filthy yet he charged my card anyways. I have contacted my bank to dispute the charge and will also be contacting the local media and NV attorney generals office. It's our fault for failing to read the reviews. You have been warned!  This is the worse experience we've ever had!

Go on your way! The price is very high and everything was very dirty: the floor, the heating sent dust everywhere, the sheets were full of work and hair, the ceiling is falling apart... For that price you will have a luxurious room at Nuggets.
