We stayed at Silver Beach Hotel over fall break. 
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room had two balconies and lovely views. The staff made sure we had everything we needed to have a lovely stay. We will definitely come again in the summer. Thanks!

Great staff and clean hotel!

Location and price are its biggest attributes. The hotel is located a block out of town. The room was clean recently updated but still could use upgrades. It is a 2 star hotel. It is within walking distance to any type of restaurant you could want. American, bar, sports bar, Chinese, Greek, burger, Mexican, great pizza and even a couple fine dining. Walking to the beach is about 15 minutes and down (72) steps, I recommend walking towards the river walk and you can avoid the steps. Due to COVID there is no breakfast. I also recommend you bring your own shampoo and conditioner, they provide this on the wall but it is not secure. We paid around $100 per night in September. There is only one other hotel in the area and it is triple the price. This is our 5th year coming here. There also was no housekeeping during your stay. I was ok with that. I’ll be back!

Location and price 

We came over the Labor Day Weekend.  We had made reservations at another hotel but we opted out because if wasn't safe.  They only had a few rooms left and we were lucky to stay at Silver Beach Hotel.  It was very comfortable, clean and everything was really good.  Staff was very friendly.    We will always stay at Silver beach when we go back!

This hotel was easily located by tour guide Arnold who drove us to the place. The hotel looked welcoming and there were friendly staff waiting to serve us. The rooms were spacious and clean. There were clean towels and toiletries in the bathroom. We had room service which was delayed for more than an hour.

Wonderful hotel stay

My boyfriend was supposed to be in a wedding that was in St. Joe. This hotel seemed nice and was walking distance from the reception. We made a reservation confirming that we could get a full refund because my boyfriend is from Canada and was unsure if the borders would open in time to attend. Needless to say we had to cancel. 
I called 3 weeks before our stay only to be told that my reservation was already cancelled. I was pretty confused and the front desk attendant just said that the wedding I was affiliated with had all of their rooms cancelled..?? Umm ok that seemed odd to me. But it was cancelled.
 So the date of our stay comes and goes and I notice my credit card was still charged. I call, there must have been some mistake. The same front desk attendant answered, seemed frustrated and was borderline rude to me. People have bad days I understand, so I let it go. She says it will be 7-10 business days to get a refund. Alright, not a problem. This was August 18th. 
Those days go by... actually many days go by... up until today, I have called now 3 times since that initial phone call to get a refund. Each time I have been assured that my card will be refunded and I will get a phone call back that same day. I have not gotten a phone call or a payment made to my account. 
As someone who was a housekeeper at a hotel for 2 years and a waitress for 5 years, I’m incredibly understanding when it comes to dealing with people in general. But this pushed me over the edge. I did not even stay here, but would not recommend it at all if this is how they run their business.

No refund

Hotel is run down, dirty, in need of a major redecoration and a new cleaning crew. Some of the most basic amenities are missing - for example, available power outlets. One of the lamps and the coffee machine were unplugged because there were no outlets available, the coffee maker turned out to be broken, and the extension cord didn't work. Overall, just God-awful. And we paid $218/night + non-refundable deposit  + daily fee for our pet, for no apparent reason. This hotel is in dire need of new owners, and of a major update (as is the inside looks like vintage 90's. I would not recommend it to anyone, even to those with pets. There are other hotels in St. Joe which accept pets.

Awful experience

We stayed here for a wedding at the end of August last weekend. The bride and groom recommended it due to the great location near the beach ceremony and reception at the Veranda. Besides location this was a complete waste of money and absolutely disgusting. This hotel is old, outdated, filthy and like something out of a horror movie. The pictures on the website are not even close to what it really looks like. The rooms have old disgustingly dirty carpet. Beds are broken down and sheets not changed. One group in our party walked in and saw hair all over their sheets. Our toilet did not flush we reported it and it was never fixed in our two night stay we had to remove the lid to the tank and flush with our hands.  How disgusting! Our room was never cleaned or beds made the second day no cleaning no garbage removal during COVID!!!!! Another guest asked the cleaning people why the rooms had not been cleaned and she told them “we can’t always get to everyone”! What?!?! Our gross border of old wallpaper was coming off the wall and taped up with scotch tape. Bathrooms were disgusting shower heads were so low it hit my stomach when showering and I’m 5’2”!. Another in our group had black mold all over the bathroom and a dirty diaper on the balcony. To top it off they wanted to charge us $240 a night! Motel 6 is better then this crap hole and they only charge $69 a night. When we all complained they agreed to lower it to $186 because we were part of the wedding block and gave some excuse that it’s busy season. Hmmmm weird since they are now going for $71 a night a week later. Total rip off for a dump. BEWARE DO NOT GO HERE! I’m still itchy just thinking about how gross that was.

My sister, my mom & I stayed here while we were in Michigan for a funeral. The hotel looked beautiful in the lobby but the room was far from being considered updated. There were used hand towels in the bathroom, a used washcloth still on the curtain rod. The mirrors in the room were filthy and the elevator looked like the walls haven't been wiped down in weeks. One of the beds were broken (the frame was bent, so every time you move it would make a loud noise). The balcony door wouldn't lock properly and the air conditioner in the room didn't work properly.

Lobby is Beautiful,don't let that fool you

Extremely disappointing hotel.  Towels are small and rough unless you like exfoliating your body with your shower towel!!. They literally cut a hole in the wall, painted a piece of board white put a lock on it and called it an adjoining room.  One tiny trash can for the entire room.  The description of the room is completely inaccurate.  The room itself did not feel or look dirty just very dated.  The price is way over priced for this hotel.  But they did have a room last minute. This little town is packed with peeps. Good thing is the staff is nice, we had a nice view of the lake and the location is great.  Another beautiful day to go out an enjoy.  

Very disappointed 

We stayed here in the past and unfortunately we ended up repeating the experience.  Last time I said the Silver Beach Hotel was disgusting.  The second time around I can only say it is even worse than before.  It is overpriced and filthy.  They charge over $200 per night for a room and so you might expect the place to be decent.  No chance.  

When you enter you smell spilled beer all over and especially in the elevator.  Rancid.  They have 2 poor parrots in cages in the lobby that are subject to bright light from 6 AM in the morning until 10 PM at night - terrible.  We asked to have our first room switched because the beds were not made and the bathroom was as dirty as a public street restroom.    The "new" room at least had the beds made but had a dripping tap in the bathroom, no shampoo and the bathroom mat was sopping wet.  

There was no coffee for the coffee maker, no sweeter and no creamer.  

The Silver Beach hotel is worse than a cheap motel.  It dishonors the beauty and ambiance of St Joe as a town.
