Salinas

This place is great! Very clean. The couple that run the motel are extremely nice and friendly. Fridge, microwave and coffee all in room. The room was very large and has a big screen TV.  If we are ever in the area again, this will be our #1 choice to stay. Priced for affordability. Best hotel for our vacation! Highly recommend for a peaceful night's sleep.

Best place to stay in this area!!

Pulling into the Best 5 parking lot everything was peaceful. It was off the freeway. Well, unfortunately it was at a junction where big rigs were redirecting to another road. Also, there was a dude w/ two others hanging out on the 2nd floor talking all night. I called to issue the problem but he came back. 

Very noisy 

Under no circumstances is this hotel, unsafe, noisy, in a village far from any tourist area... its warm weather does not correspond to what it offers neither the service nor the location... HORROROSO.

Horrible 

We booked a room for the weekend at roughly 100$/night, and upon returning to our room on the second night of our weekend stay, found bed bugs easily visible on the bedding of one of our beds. We attempted to resolve the issue amicably, by requesting a refund for our second night, but were refused.

We chose to vacate our room rather than risk being bitten, nevermind the cost and time we have incurred to preventatively decontaminate our luggage and clothing. Management was apologetic, but unhelpful otherwise. 

If the photos are approved and posted with this review, they will provide evidence of the bedbugs themselves.

Bed bugs present in room 208

We booked this place 2h before arrival as it was labour day weekend and most of the hotels were already booked in Monterey were we was during our on the road trip. 
Once arrived the parking was completely dark, no lights no cars. At the reception there was a thick glass with a space of few mm where to pass docs
Our room was on the side of the building, in the dark, close to the trash bin were we heard people yelling. We were the only tourist, no other cars.  The room wasn't very clean. We went eat and decide what to do. When we went back to the car there were a group of people that was following us and we noted there was a barricade tape in the parking. We felt so scared and unsafe that we called the reception telling we would not be back and if was passibile to have a refund as the room was untouched and they could have resell it. The kind guy we met at the reception became rude and unpolite, of course no help by his side only offenses
That was the worst experience we had, not only for the place but for the lack of respect and help.
Do yourself a favor, sleep in the car instead of sleep here 

Worst place ever 

Stayed here trying to tour California on the cheap.  I was looking for budget hotels that were just on this side of police calls. This filled the bill.  All I needed was sleep and wifi.  Again, this filled the bill.  

The pool was "out of order" and looked as if had been for a while.  The check-in desk is behind plexiglass.  The furniture in the room was random but the bed was clean and comfortable. On a Saturday night, it stayed quiet outside.

Very basic but clean and quiet.

I was promptly check in by a gentleman named Sonny very polite. The room was descent for the price we paid. The housekeeping staff was also very nice. Close to convenient store gas station as well as fast food locations.

Very Satisfied

I'll tell you right away - you'd better stop somewhere else. The hotel building is very old, like, by the way, the furniture, the equipment, and everything else. The pool didn't work. Breakfast is a complete fiction - white toaster bread and two plastic bottles with something like jam, a can of coffee - here's the whole breakfast.

It's dirty and noisy.

We traveled from Las Vegas via the Sequoia N.P. to Salinas because we didn't find our actual interim destination Merced really inviting and the next day Monterrey was on the program (Monterrey Down Town is about 35 minutes away by car or 21 miles away from the motel). So we were glad that there was a motel in Lt. Roomsaver that was available for $35 (including tax) for a night's sleep. The motel was very close to 101 Hgwy. and about 1 mile away from Salinas Airport.

It doesn't have to be...

When we arrived in Salinas after a long drive, we decided to go to the Best 5 Motel because it was conveniently located on the highway. Checking in was already a bit difficult because several different people were in charge. Then the big surprise came in the room.
