I’ll start with the good elements of this place, which were very few: the sheets were clean and the beds were comfortable. The rest of the place was incredibly grungy and for over $200 a night, not worth it. I would never recommend this place.

Grungy!

Homey, friendly, rustic stay right in the park! Could not have asked for a more convenient location to both parks. The staff is the Best!!! So friendly and accommodating. Comfy beds, great, home cooked breakfast. Market has everything you need and gas station on the property. Great value for you buck. Thank you Dawns and Matt !!!

It's hard to know how to rate this place. On the positive side, the location is amazing, and is what you are here for. You're in the National Forest, so 20 minutes from desirable trailheads. You can get there first, before things fill up, and you don't have to drive an hour of winding roads, and you're not camping. You get a simple but nice breakfast at 8 am, and then you can just stay out all day. The place itself, however, is really run down. My room had no heat for two nights, much of the already small lobby is roped off for construction, the plumbing was having trouble one night, and the front desk is not staffed after 7 or 8 pm. Dingy is the word. I was here by myself, and I'd do it again if it was just me. But if my wife was joining me, we'd try to be at Waksuchi.

Run down but functional

The good, the bad and the ugly. I have to start with the bad first. We decided to close our bill just after breakfast, after our two night stay. We still had one hour before check out so we went back to our room to get changed for the day and do our final pack. Our light was clearly on in our room (there are frosted glass sidelights and glass on the door that you can see light through into the room) We (two females) were luckily still dressed when an unknown man used his keycard to entered into our room WITHOUT knocking. He quickly turned, said sorry and closed the door. We approached the front desk to report this when they replied he was the cleaning staff who entered unannounced as they thought we had checked out as we had finalized our bill early. I found this completely inappropriate and unprofessional. The ugly is the beautiful stone fireplace and cosy sitting area that was advertised is completely covered in plywood from top to bottom along with yellow caution tape and construction material from one end of the room to the other. As well we should mention upon our arrival on the first night there was a mistake made (we were told by the front desk that it was to do with the generator being turned off) as we did not have any electricity or heat our first night (it was in the low 40’s outside) so had to put on our hats and puffy jackets during the night.  Everyone that was in the lodge was given a discount for that night for their error.  The good… the location is central within the two parks. As well the front desk and kitchen staff were quite nice. Would I come back? Not a chance. For the price of staying at a lodge I would expect much better. 

Would not come back

The friendly staff attempted to compensate for the caution tape inside and out, outdated furniture, flooring, window treatments, everything needing a thorough cleaning. The fixture in the bathroom was 2 light bulbs. The sheets looked clean, but doubt bedspreads are washed between guests. Dinner was supposed to be included, when we arrived there was a sign: no dinner Tuesday & Wednesday. Overpriced for condition of lodge.

Overpriced Lodge needs a LOT of updating.

Just don’t.  This place is nasty.  Disappointed is an understatement.  Rooms are dirty, carpets are stained, water takes a long time to get hot.  I am hard pressed to find anything good to say about this dump.  Hopefully it will be better after they finish the current construction.  Ugh.

Go elsewhere!

Restaurant closed, phones don't work, TV don't work. Only single lamp in the room, and the hot water doesn't work. Rooms are also very shabby and the place is expensive. I'll be kind and not talk about the breakfast.

Spend your money elsewhere 

This whole place felt disgusting. Stains on the carpet and dirty floors. Mold in the shower. The bed smelled terrible, as if a wet dog had slept in it. Walls and windows are paper thin, so it’s really cold and you can hear everything through the walls. The common spaces felt dirty too and there was some sort of renovation going on in the common room. Don’t trust the pictures where it looks cozy. I wouldn’t stay here again. We stayed in several other places with similar prices  during our three week trip in the U.S. and none of them were as bad as this one. 

Very disappointed

The location is fabulous - right in the heart of Sequoia National Park. The staff were extremely helpful and fun. Breakfast in the dining area is included. Coffee is always available in the common area. There is on-site gas and convenience store. 

I was part of a group attending a wedding and most of the group was camping nearby. 

The lodge common area is slowly being renovated. It old and very basic.  Most of the rooms have multiple beds for families. Good beds and bedding. Everything else is pretty dated. 

It’s pricey for the room quality. You pay for the location in the park.

Pricey and basic but in a great location.

It's awful. Unfortunately, you pay so much for an old, dirty room with no comforts. Not even the fridge to put things in.
