August 2023: The wife and I tried to book for late September to go to a destination wedding. We are tight on funds so we called and asked to schedule the deposit to be taken out on Friday (payday was Friday, this was a Wednesday). The morning lady was very kind and agreed. She said she also made a note of it on our account. 

Thursday afternoon I get a voicemail from someone with a thick accent saying that the reservation was cancelled because the deposit didnt go through. We called back and was speaking to the afternoon worker who spoke English as a second language--which is completely fine, but led to a problematic misunderstanding. I understood that our reservation was cancelled and we would have to rebook on Friday when we had the deposit ready. 

Anyways, Friday comes and we were frustrated with the service so rather than rebook, we made a reservation elsewhere. Then Friday night I see that the deposit came out. Confused, we called to see what was going on and discovered the miscommunication. (Apparently, they meant that they would retry the deposit on Friday--even though we were explicitly told that it was cancelled. ) We requested a refund because we thought it was cancelled and made other arrangements. The afternoon lady wasnt seeming to understand so we politely go off the phone and decided to call back later. 

Called back and got the morning lady. Again, very polite and said she would talk to her manger. 

Tuesday afternoon, I get another voicemail from afternoon lady saying that we are telling different stories and to call her. Next day, we call back and try to clear it up. (I dont like to be accused of lying, so you could tell in my voice that I was upset, but I always try to be calm and respectful to those in customer service, cause tbh we've all had a job in the service industry that we do not remember fondly.) We got the afternoon lady and she was immediately on the defensive, when we tried to say there was a misunderstanding and we just wanted a refund, she kept telling us our old conversations over again. Literally could not get a single complete sentence out for over 5 minutes without being immediately interrupted. From across the room, my wife could here her voice rising through the phone. I was so worked up that I just had to hang up--we had past the point of respectful conversation and there was no point trying to resolve an issue with someone who was determined to fight. 

I dont care about the misunderstanding, that could have been fixed. I do care about being called a liar, interrupted, and yelled at. 

Talked to the wife and decided to say goodbye to the $170 deposit, just so we never have to talk to them again. 

Hostile if you try to cancel

We got married at Hanah Mountain Resort in October and can’t recommend it enough. It was a great location, beautiful venue with excellent mountain views. The manager, Violet was amazing and was so helpful the entire way through. The transition from our service to the cocktail hour to the reception was easy and each room was perfect. The food, prepared by chef John and staff was phenomenal. The bartenders, Bea and Cassandra did an excellent job and all with a smile. If you are planning a Catskill area wedding, there is none better than the Hanah Mountain Resort.

Had our annual firemens dinner at Hanah's as we do every year and like always, was NOT dissapointed!!! The food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect, the staff could not be more accommodating and pleasent! It was a perfect night!

The place is wonderful, me and my friends loved it there. Nice friendly staff very helpful and accommodating to our needs . The bar does Karoke we had a blast with that. Fair prices and food is yummy. Definitely would recommend.

Wonderful

Hanah mountain is one of the most beautiful places in the Catskills area. With a breathtaking view. Amazing front desk staff and great kitchen staff as well. This place is amazing for dinner out, weddings and special events. They truly make you feel like part of a family here.

Amazing resort

I’ve stayed at Hanah with my partner and son a few times and every single time I am just amazed with this place. It’s a mountain resort with hotel prices and it’s such a beautiful, quiet, and serene area. They have a lovely restaurant, the chefs create dishes based on fresh and in season ingredients so you know you’re going to enjoy anything you order. And the service in the restaurant and at the front desk is incredibly professional yet personable. The people who work there are always thinking of you and ways to improve your stay. I didn’t even have to ask for more towels, they were just brought to my room right when I needed them! I’ve stayed in the executive suite and the junior suite and both were very clean and warm during the winter. Every little detail was considered. The pool and the hot tub are always clean and so are the changing areas and bathrooms. The lobby is always decorated for the holidays and feels like home away from home. And don’t forget the huge deck out back that gives you the most spectacular view. I can’t say enough how much I love it at Hanah and recommend it to anyone looking for a different and better experience than the usual chain hotel we might find ourselves considering.

Multiple visits, always impressed with my stay!

I booked this resort for a wedding that I can no longer travel to attend for medical reasons. When I called to cancel the reservation, I was told that only 30% of my (overpriced) reservation was eligible for a refund. Lo and behold, this policy is on the website, but hidden several scrolls beyond more general and generous language about cancellation. I would have never booked this so-called resort had I known. It appears to be intentionally misleading. Incredibly bad business.

Who has a cancellation policy this bad during a global pandemic?

If there was an option for (0) ⭐️’s … that’s what I would rate this tragic place!  By far, one of the most (if not the most) AWFUL customer service experiences EVER! 

The torture began the moment we checked in with the incompetent and miserable front desk attendants that pay you no mind and roll their eyes when you ask logical questions about the property and their services, of which they have almost NONE, so don’t be fooled! 

The rooms are detached in a separate building that is a bit of a walk through a gravel, muddy path and/or a bridge with no convenience ramp for lugging your bags and heavy suitcases. And NO, there is no offer from front desk to have your bags delivered to your room (even though there are a ton of golf carts that can easily be used to transport multiple luggage items for customers checking in for a 4 day weekend). 

Upon entering our room, moths flew straight into our faces and the smell of the room was not inviting by any stretch of my senses! It was bad! We couldn’t imagine when the room had any fresh air flowing through it! 

We went to the restaurant to honor our “reservation” since dinner is only served from 5pm - 730pm. Somehow we were locked into a “pre-fixe” menu that we had no idea existed because we never committed to a pre-fixe menu when making the reservation. Thankfully that was corrected and we made the best of our dinner. I recommend that you NOT get the salmon. 

We returned to our room, tried to turn on the tv to unwind and unpack and of course, the tv did not have a signal and basically didn’t work. Technician came in to fix it. He also had to come back to offer us different sheets for the pull out sofa bed because when we pulled it out, it had an old towel stuck in there along with lint and food particles/crumbs within the folds of the pullout bed. Disgusting! It was gross! We were not amused! 

When we checked in, we were not told that there are breakfast hours. Make sure you ask for breakfast hours and which specific days they serve because they DO NOT serve b-fast every day. In fact, they do not serve lunch whatsoever, unless you’re a golfer. Keep in mind, this place is in the middle of nowhere with no taxi service, no driver services, no Uber availability, bad wifi signals PLUS a minimal staff that has no interest in sourcing out transportation for those customers that do not have a car. Since we missed the 9am end time for breakfast the following morning, we walked all the way to Arkville to nourish ourselves and ended up walking back to the Hanah! 

Other issues - hot water is very inconsistent, locker rooms smell awful! Very unsanitary. Just plain dirty! The pool is indoors and it’s nothing special. The hot tub is outside and that was the place where we spent the most time outside of our room. 

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL HERE! The idea of hospitality does not exist at this place. Really such a shame because the property has so much potential. It’s tragic! 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Came back to our rooms after a day of golf to find that there was NO WATER working the bathrooms, with absolutely NO NOTICE and no eta on when it would be turned back on. Front Desk staff was  completely unapologetic and argumentative about it. The worst customer service ever. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

STAY FAR AWAY. Terrible customer service!

We stayed here for two days to ski Belleayre which is 15 min drive away. Check-in was easy and room are separate from the lodge with parking outside. We had booked dinner in the restaurant both days. The food was great. Many delicious options and a kids menu. Good prices and great cocktails. There is also a bar for happy hour. Service was great and friendly. Book before you go. 
Because of Covid you also have to book a time at the pool with was in a separate pool house. Nice and clean and amazing hot jacuzzi outside under the stars. Make sure to get extra towels at the reception. 
Rooms were large and clean. They have coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave. No cleaning during your stay due to Covid but staff drops towels and new coffee. Our room had a balcony with chairs and a nice view. 
Everyone there was nice and friendly and we felt very welcome. 
Resort is old school and some may think a little dated but for a mountain vacation that works for me.
