Great place to stay if in Spencer or surrounding area. Great location close to eateries and shopping and movie theater. Quiet location yet near main roads leading into 
Spencer. The accommodations are clean and the staff was very nice.  I would recommend/

Nice accommodations in a quiet, but central location.

The only decent thing was the room. I’m paying the same I pay for a courtyard or holiday inn and the hotel is far below those standards! 

Horrible Incident - we had two different booking for two days. On the day of checkin, I called and the lady on the phone said she has confirmed both days.

Horribly - we return after our soccer match and find all our stuff outside and packed. The lady on the reception says we were on her departure list and thus they invaded our privacy and packed and got all our stuff out!!!!

Talk about being unprofessional! And she calmly says oh I found your booking and I’ll check you in again!

We had to bring and setup all our stuff again and the GM, Michelle is completely unreachable! 

The breakfast is pretty sub standard too!

Horrible hotel.

Horrible & Unprofessional!

Not great for what you pay. We stay in hotels typically twice a month and this one was overpriced for what you get. Breakfast wasn’t ready on time and was so picked over the second morning and not restocked by the third morning. 
Shop around!

Not exceptional 

Cleaning staff was friendly and cleaned the rooms well in the middle of our stay. No laundry though and the mat next door is inconveniently expensive relative to a typical hotel laundry room. They also denied our request for an hour extension on our checkout, which I find is typically not an issue for hotels to accommodate. Overall good place.

Good, not great

Front desk staff not the friendliest and the person checking us in didn’t have a clue what was going on.  I asked to use restroom after checking out and was told that was not an option.  Couldn’t get into the pool and the staff had no explanation as to why.

Not very friendly

This hotel was smaller than most Americinn's where I have stayed in the past.  The hotel staff was friendly. The bed very comfortable.  The hotel could spare placing 4 small pillows on the king sized bed and use regular sized pillows instead.  The room was large with a couch.  Ice machine was close by. Food is always good and chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon was a nice touch for a snack. 

Nice hotel in a small town!

This is the second and last visit we will make to an Americinn. Both stays at different locations on this vacation were unsatisfactory. They do not have elevators. The quality and selection of breakfast is very low. They did not have coffee makers in the room in the Spencer, IA location and the coffee was so bad we had to go somewhere else to buy some. At the Spencer location they had no Kleenex in the room and the temperature of the A/C was unbearably cold. We turned it off only to have them turn it back on and and change it back to a very cold temp when they “cleaned the room.” There were no extra blankets in the room. At the St. Cloud, MN location they had no fresh fruit out for breakfast, and not one staff person greeted us, smiled, said goodbye or asked how our stay was. Very unwelcoming for our entire 2 night stay. At the St. Cloud location the room was humid and musty and the carpet felt damp. Neither location had a working exhaust fan for the shower/bathroom. At both locations no one was working at the front desk. You either have to pick up a phone and call or ring a bell and then wait. At the St. Cloud location, no one came to service our room in between nights. We were ok on sheets and towels, but we had to go to the desk to ask for coffee packs for the room, and of course no one was at the desk so we had to wait. Spend the extra $20 and book next door at the Holiday Inn Express.

Unfriendly, low quality stay

I was in Room 125 this weekend. The AC in the room barely functioned, it was set at 60 degrees but the room never cooled and the AC was just blowing air that was not cool. To top it off the entire room felt damp and overly humid. I contacted the front desk and their only response was that there was a dehumidifier in the laundry room (which was next to my room) that I could use. When I plugged it in and turned it on, the readout showed that there was 89% humidity in the room. The humidifier made it better, but the room never really cooled but at least it didn't feel as miserable in the room. I talked to the front desk a couple times and they said there was nothing they could do except tell the manager on Monday. I don't feel like this was acceptable. 

Other than that it was fairly standard. The pillows are trash however, so if you are coming - consider bringing your own. The breakfast offerings were ok. The staff was friendly but not helpful. 

To top it off, I spoke with the people who stayed in Room 117 the same night. They had an AC that made the room so cold that it was difficult for them to stay warm. 

Probably time for some AC upgrades, maintenance or regular testing.

Barely any AC and some issues with the room

property has changed ownership and has regressed in overall looks, cleanliness, breakfast options. Rooms are not cleaned or freshened up for multiple day occupants. Hotel signage was laying flat in the front landscape surrounded by weeks of weed growth.

first stay at this location in 2 years

First impression was a negative-no outdoor signage due to previous weather taking sign down without a temporary sign in place. Second impression - lobby was fresh smelling and clean. Third impression- room was okay for two nights but carpet was dirty and without shoes disgusting.
