My family and I stayed the night in the Log Home as a pit stop from our drive from FL to NY. We traveled with out infant and dog. We were so happy when we arrived at the property. The cabin was very impressive… historic yet with modern amenities. The property is beautiful and we felt peaceful after a long drive. The cabin was outfitted with a coffee maker and some coffee, along with plates and silverware in the full kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and the place was very clean. On the way back to FL, we decided to make a stop again instead of driving further. We stayed at the Tobacco Barn which was smaller, but equally as impressive. It was great to have accommodations that met our needs in the road, to include our dog. This was a lovely respite and we only wish that we had more time to enjoy it!

A beautiful pit stop

I was here this past weekend for a wedding and it was lovely- the space is gorgeous and the food was excellent. It was definitely one of the best meals I've ever had at a wedding. The grounds are really beautiful as well; although we didn't have time to spend much time outside.

Beautiful Event Venue!

Hubby wanted to see battlefields, I wanted to sit and read - staying here was the PERFECT opportunity to do both. We were so pleasantly surprised as there were not too many reviews, so went in with low expectations. We stayed at the Riddick  House, what a lovely experience - they have done a masterful job with the restoration, it is stunning.  Beware of very steep stairs to get to bedrooms - we just left our suitcases on the first floor.  Two very comfy beds, and a massive master bathroom.   I spent the majority of my time on the front porch reading, very peaceful.  The service could not have been more attentive, staff drove by a few times a day to check on us. The breakfasts for 1 could have easily fed 2, and were delicious the two days I had them.  The walk behind the house to the earthworks was recommended and we really enjoyed it - walking sticks don't hurt to have, but it was a relatively easy walk and trees are well marked. The other buildings on the property looked like equally as well kept from the outside, and each one is unique.  If you are in the area this is a unique opportunity.  You do need to drive everywhere to get to anything, including food, this is something to be aware of if that is not enjoyable. We had lots of takeout and brought it home to enjoy wine with our meals.

The highlight of our trip to VA!

Stevenson Ridge provides a unique opportunity to try one of the interesting buildings on the property. You can choose from homes and cabins. The owners do an awesome job of renovating these buildings and turning them into a well appointed and unique lodging experience. The tobacco barn was our choice on this visit, it did not disappoint. A walk to the Civil War earthworks on the property adds to the experience.

A unique lodging experience.

The Ridge is an unparalled site for any event, be it wedding office function, birthday party, or whatever.  Their catering is the issue. At the main entrance they arrayed a buffet of truly delicious & imaginative dishes . They set up a large seating chart for all 64 guests, down to our smallest children. ***** performance. Next for our vegetarian guests, the chef provided appropriate plates. All complimented him personally. Now comes the awfulness. The chicken was good, no complaints. My wife made out best with the grilled salmon.  ***** I ordered a "prime rib". Which wasn't. It was bone-in rib steak served with COLD aux jus. That just isn't done....A carving station set up near the guests would be the fix. Overall, ***1/2.

Beautiful Venue -- Food has issues.

We stayed 2 nights in the Bedford Cabin. Wish we had booked a longer stay, because we enjoyed our stay and the accommodations so much. The house was spacious and beautiful and met our needs perfectly. Coffee is provided. We had a full bath with both a tub and a shower and also a powder room upstairs. The living room was cozy and comfortable. The TV’s do not get cable, but we didn’t plan to spend any time watching TV. The WiFi was a little slow at times but not a problem. The location is perfect if you want to visit the Civil War battlefields. It’s close to Spotsylvania battlefield and a short easy drive to Fredericksburg. We plan to return and stay a bit longer! 

Fabulous property 

The Post Office cabin is both rustic and comfortable with a large fireplace and modern bathroom. The wonderful smell of the fireplace greeted us upon entry and the rich textures of bare wood and patterned fabrics were in perfect balance.  The antiques echo history and give one pause to consider times past.

Breakfast was delivered on time and I was, for the first time, envious of my wife's gluten free selection though all was good.

Pleasant, Quiet, Rustic

A MUST stay!!! The grounds are lovely, the cabins are decorated so well and very comfortable. The cabins are located down the street from some restaurants and very close to Fredericksburg attractions. I will be back!!! 

Spring Break

I paid $214 for one night. I decided to stay here because my husband wanted to expirience staying in a log cabin. I looked at other reviews and thought it sounded good. I had to cancel my original booking due to a huricane but rebooked for the folowing day. I rang around 3pm to ask where to go when we arrived and a helpful young lady directed me to the reception area. We arrived and found her without any problems. We had been driving all day so we were exhausted and just wanted a shower and to relax. We arrived at the cabin and it was beautiful. The exterior was perfect and the interior was equally appealing with beautful artwork. Other reviews said how the owners had met them with fresh baked cookies and made them feel welcome. We had to settle for a pack of Lorna Doones and one English breakfast tea bag to split between us. Being from the UK we both drink tea and as there was only one tea bag worth using we left it. The ants that were happily marching around all over the place and seemed pleased to see us. They swarmed over the trash can when we put the Lorna Doone wrapper in it. The next morning I went to make coffee and found the coffee maker had the used coffee grounds from the last people who stayed still in it. Thankfully it couldn't have been too long since they were there because they hadn't yet started to grow mould. We were also looking forward to a season premier of a particular TV series but they don't have any TV channels. Just a stack of random DVDs that range from "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas" to "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells". So bring your own entertainment, your own tea bags and your own cookies. By the time we realised there was only one English Breakfast tea bag it was after 6 and the office was closed. Apart from those small but really annoying and easily avoidable problems the place was nice. For the price you expect a slightly higher standard. So I won't be making a return visit.

Not worth the price.

My husband, myself, and our 4 month old stayed here for three nights total in March. The property and cabins were gorgeous, so comfortable, and we loved having a wood fireplace. We stayed in the Tobacco Barn and the Post Office as well. Both were gorgeous, the Post Office was a bit more spacious but if it had just been myself and my husband we would have stayed in the Tobacco Barn the entire time. 
My ONLY complaint was that the breakfast they bring to your cabin (for $30!!) was not great. The food was sub-par. The only thing, out of an omelette, hash browns, a muffin, and fruit that I could stomach was the fruit and I am not a picky eater. Do yourself a favor if you stay here, just buy your own food for your stay! I loved cooking my family breakfast in the Post Office.
