This place just painted the outside. It's like putting lipstick on a pig, as my husband says so eloquently. There is a sign on the window of lobby that says " grab and go breakfast. No one was there to open the security window and throw it out to us. No entry to lobby at all. About 15 cameras that you can see for on the enclosed area where the window is. Wonder what they are afraid of? The room is a joke. The bed sinks on the right side as you are on it. Feels like you are going to roll off. I had to sleep diagonally. Patches in bathroom are very poorly done. Stains on upholstered chair. The "bedspread" is a sheet. Compare their pics to mine! NEVER AGAIN!!

Never Again!!

We reserved on booking.com, then arrived and were horrified by the condition of this property. Trash and broken down vehicles in the lot, filthy lobby and grounds. A couple waiting to check in was trying to speak with someone at the closed up lobby through a piece of duct-taped cardboard. Apparently, the local homeless shelter recently closed and this place is now being used as a homeless shelter. 
We never checked in, immediately cancelled our reservation.  However, the hotel charged our card anyway & continue to refuse to issue a refund. 
What a nightmare!

Beware- TERRIBLE!

What a dump for 90.00 a night. The whole town of St Joseph's is a dump and a rip off. No refer or microwave in the room. I'm not sure there was a TV . If your plans call for staying here or in St Joseph's Missouri. Find some place else.

Horrible Place

My wife and I enjoyed this motel previously, so we booked online.  When we arrived there was no staff, in the whole motel, to check us in.  Another couple had been waiting 2 hours for someone to show.  All scouted the motel looking for foul play, and notified the police of the suspicious situation.  Eventually a person who ‘kind of’ worked there showed and called the manager, Rose Moore, and was told to check us in.  Their key machine was inoperable so we didn’t get a key to our room, which WE basically just located an empty open room that looked like it had some room service done.  If you left your room, you couldn’t get back in, so you only left one at a time, or left the room unlocked.  Twice guests jumped the desk to call any number found posted, to see if someone would show.  Most of the staff called had been fired, for no reason.  The owner had been in India for months...?abandoning the business?  Other guests who were staying for a week, said there had been service initially, but then everyone disappeared...and they were locked out of their room.  No continental breakfast, machines out of order.  Honestly, you could show up there, find a open room for the night, no one would know.  It was a good place we preferred to stay at, but unfortunately something is going on.  -Mark P.

Going out of business???

Parking lot and entrance icy and slippery. Clerk showed us 3 rooms but none had been made up - we did get a room that was ready - clean and comfortable bed and quiet heater but very noisy toilet flusher. Once we paid to check in,the clerk informed us that the electronic key system was not working and if we went out, staff would have to let us back into the room - this was unacceptable as it had been like this for more than a couple of days. Motel was quiet at night, At the breakfast room there was cereal, biscuits and gravy, waffle maker, muffins, little donuts, bread - however when we asked for jam and margarine they told us they did not have any - in another review it was mentioned that some supplies were not there - first time I've ever encountered no margarine or jam! When the Manager was approached about lack of this plus electronic key system not working, she almost denied that it was a problem. I would not stay there again.

Less than desirable stay.

After reading many reviews I can see this hotel likes to fraudulently charge people's cc and basically steal there money and when you warn them they don't care they think they can get away with it again and again and again
They should be brought up on charges they are thief's with a cc machine.
Here's my story I called and asked if they had a smoking room the lady said she would check and then got back to me and said yes I told her o would be in around 20 minutes or so , when I arrived she said are you the one who called I said yes and she took my cc and tried to run it several times and said your card isn't working I told her I stay in hotels almost every night for eight years that is ridiculous so I paid her cash.
The next morning I was leaving and a Indian gentleman asked how my stay was and I told him there was several hairs in my tub it looked like they were from different people and there was no ashtray.i then asked him to download some of my work documents that show my pay on it since I don't have a fax..4 hours later my cc got charged $100 from the hotel I called immediately and asked what's up...the lady that checked me in the night before I said what's up you changed my cc $100 she said you smoked in a non smoking room , I told her you reserved that room for me as a smoking room and you know it...she said well you initialed that smoking in a non smoking room , I said yes but I booked a smoking room and you know it you asked me if I was the one who just called when I arrived 20 minutes later ...they should be prosacuted based on all the reviews were they abused people's cc and wouldn't refund them don't stay here people den of thieves is what they are I reported them to the local authorities.

Cc ripoffs beware

This is a good value hotel...nice room, fair price...and in a good central location. It is near walking distance food...next door. But it is a 'value' hotel. The rooms were clean and quite satisfactory for the price.

A Good Value Hotel

Check in was easy.  The fellow at the counter gave us 10% off coupons for a couple local restaurants.  There is a Denney's directly across the streets and numerous other places close by.  Our room was fairly large and even had a recliner which we both enjoyed.  Our room had a microwave, refrigerator, and iron and ironing board, coffeemaker and hairdryer.  Breakfast consisted of make them yourself waffles but also included biscuits and gravy which was nice.
