Filthy room, dead cockroaches, dirty bedding covers and pillows, polyester sheets, Mosquitoes flying out of bath towels,  dirty bathroom floors, broken inoperable windows, AC that sounds like a jet engine, THIS PLACE IS BAD !!!

I stayed in "Harvey's Hideaway" at Hodge Podge Lodge.  My accommodations were comfortable.  The cottage is quaint but well appointed.  The grounds are pretty and well maintained.  I found it easy to access the room when I arrived.  The door has an electronic key pad.

Cozy accommodations

I’m so disappointed in my stay. Let me list the reasons why:
1. I arrived late and unlock the front door it  was completely dark downstairs and I had to walk upstairs in the dark using my phone.
2. No bottle water in the room.
3. No hot water to shower. 
4. Both trash cans full.
5. Coffee machine  had a used pod in
  it.
6. No hangers in closet 

The lack of detail in cleaning a room  is very disappointing!!!

Disappointing stay

Charming environment.  Great, fresh food, garden setting, old house with manicured grounds.  Linen and silverware.  Professionally dressed staff.  Clean and upscale.  Brunch for me was soup, salad and sandwich.  Croissant caramel French toast, Bellinis and mimosas.

In July we went for my birthday. Instead of posting a bad review I contacted management to let them know our experience. Mama get was super nice and begged us to come back and “ let them take good care of us”. So we tried again- and the service was just as bad as the first.

First visit- it was my birthday so I booked ahead for a nice romantic dinner. We were greeted right away and seated. The server explained she was new to the dinner time and would be having another person assist and we were introduced.  We never saw that person again during the evening. Drinks took 20 minutes for one- a special drink they advertised, and 25 minutes for a vodka soda. The speciality drink tasted like lighter fluid and was really awful. I was told they hadn’t made it before.. what??? A special drink on the menu and bartender hasn’t made before?  
Too forever to get servers attention to order. When we got food it came out a WELL filet when ordered MR and the fish was over cooked. Tried and tried to find the server and couldn’t… when I went to the bathroom I found her. Sitting at a table eating … wow. 
We watched the staff sing happy birthday to another table meanwhile when I ordered dessert, it was just dropped at my table. And yes they knew it was my birthday as they said happy birthday at the hostess area when we walked in.

After taking to the manager and being begged to give them another try we did. 
We arrived and hostess greeted welcoming us back and saying we hope you have a better Experience… so they KNEW.

The server comes over and it’s the same lady I complained about!!! That alerted me immediately that the manager didn’t give darn about my bad experience before. We tried so bad to see if she would be better but it was worse. Hardly ever saw her. 
I ordered a aperol spritz and told my husband it tasted like a Shirley temple. Well they used sprite instead of Prosecco  one to find out so it was kinda like a Shirley temple. Food took forever and was wrong - AGAIN as well as overcooked AGAIN!!!
 and the sweet hostess was trying so hard to greet people as well as do quality checks. After spending $250 the first time for dinner when we went before, the manager made it sound like they would take care of some of the bill if we returned. We were told they took care of a round of drinks. We paid and didn’t make an issue. Another dinner at Hodge Podge where we walked out spending quite a bit and felt so let down by the service. Manager I spoke with on the phone didn’t even come by the table.
That’s pathetic and the worst customer service ever.

For these reasons we will not be back and will choose different eating places!

Gave it a second try and was even worse - service awful and steaks very overbooked twice

Went here for my wife's birthday. What an experience. From the initial greeting when we entered to the performance by Chef Jeff singing a birthday song, we were hooked. The service was phenomenal. The food was excellent and bursting with flavor. A must have is the crab cakes. Portions are very large and you see and taste the pride the kitchen puts in each dish. Fine dining, perfect setting, top notch staff. We will be back.

Came for the special and was not disappointed. The starter was Yorkshire pudding popovers with 2 special butters. The popovers were cold but we were early dinners.
The lobster thermidor was well prepared and tasty. The sides of potatoes, squash and broccolini were outstanding. The view was lovely from our table.

Excellent service and food

A nicely restored 165year old home now a first class resturant. 
We had a grilled shrimp salad a great double porkchop, au gratin potatoes. As it was a Friday night there were several gatherings booked but the putting the quaint bar (ex-library) with great service an attention as be fits a 5 Star establishment.  Wb knew this gem was 8 miles from home in the town renowned as the birthplace of the Texas Flag 🇨🇱. 
Great tradition, great restaurant great food who could ask for more?

Great dinner and Ambiance 

Amazing time in the small cabin/house. Dinner was absolutely amazing when we stayed there.  We loved the breakfast prepared for us personally the next morning. The hot tub was the perfect finish to the night!

My husband and I have eaten here before and we were SO
looking forward to returning.  When we arrived we had to wait while the hostess to finish a conversation with staff, then we were seated.  Others were seated after us and greeted by their server, got drinks and appetizers.  We had not even been greeted by our server. I returned to the hostess and asked if there was a server assigned to our table. She scurried and after a short while, our server appeared. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the street tacos that I had two weeks prior.  The street shrimp tacos were served on flour tortillas (I wanted corn) they were not tasty as before.  The shrimp and grits were good. 
The server did not meet our expectations and was not attentive to us at all.  Our glasses were empty more than filled. Previous to this, we really raved about the restaurant to everyone in the area.  I hope these issues will be addressed.
