Supper sketchy! They ran an offer during covid. If you donated to their gofundme, they would give the money to the staff, and you would get a two night stay after restrictions lifted. I called and emailed a year later, the owners wouldn’t respond. The staff I spoke to had no idea about any gofundme. Sounds like they kept the money for themselves! You have to love a business that would kick you while you’re down

Untrustworthy. Snake oil salesmen

The property is lovely but a few things were not ideal for us that really took away from our experience. Overall it’s a place where you can feel immersed in nature and enjoy the vintage vibe like you’ve travelled back in time. It was cool but a little too rustic for us especially for the price. The first bummer was that our room was very dark and musty. We thought based on photos online that we had booked a light and airy white room, but the one we got was painted a green so deep it looked black. It felt like a dungeon in there and even with the light on we couldn’t see well. When I asked about it, the nice staff member said that unfortunately all of the white rooms were recently painted dark. I get the moody look they were going for but it was really unpleasant. The room and really all of the indoor spaces had that stale and damp antique store smell which was yucky to me. Cool vintage decor and everything, but I just didn’t feel comfortable inside the house. The second thing is that while the property is beautiful, the hiking trails and map were really confusing. It was so hard to tell where the trails were, we weren’t sure we were even on one half the time. There was hardly any signage and the paper map they provided was so sparse it barely helped. We felt lost the majority of the time, so I was nervous and not able to fully enjoy myself. Lastly, it was a little too quiet and boring. We went on a Thursday and it was pretty dead. The pool (which was fairly dirty) wasn’t very fun, the tavern was closed, and there just didn’t seem to be anything to do. I guess it’s better on the weekends! I wanted to love this place so bad but it was just okay.

Lovely but not great

This place is a real gem. The grounds and property are beautiful; the landscaping and flowers throughout the property are amazing and attract a bunch of beautiful butterflies (photo attached!) The staff are outstanding; they made me feel welcomed and at home. They have a nice little "pool bar" camper that is convenient to grab something to cool off while enjoying the beautiful pool area. The DJ at the pool makes it even nicer. Overall, this is a great property with great staff!

Beautiful location!

We stayed at this place for two days for our wedding. The grounds and the outdoors  is space is beautiful but we had some bad experience that I wanted to share. I requested a price to reserve a table for our 5 guests, me and my husband. They said they weren’t serving any food but we could bring our own food from caterers and the bar would be open. I explained that we won’t be drinking a lot (giving them the opportunity to charge us accordingly for using their restaurant space and things like plates, silverware etc.) The deal was we would have full service (without food) and they said they would charge us $250. I thought that was a fair deal. 
They did help us with stuff like receiving the food from the caterers and setting them up on a table, keeping the cake we ordered in the fridge etc. 
We had a ceremony on their property for about 20 mins. We did not need any help from the employees for the ceremony. We did not decorate any outdoor space and did not litter. 3 of our guests and my husband and I stayed on the property. Which means we all had access to the grounds just like any other guests. I would like to think we did not cause any disruption to their other guests staying at the property that day given that they had a property of 50 acres and we were outside for just the ceremony and took some pictures after. 
Even though the wedding went well, the next while my husband and I were eating breakfast and getting ready to check out, we heard one of the owners John talking on the phone that he was not informed at all about the wedding on the property and that we had lied about where the ceremony would take place and that we brought our own food and that we did order any drinks. We were completely flabbergasted by the conversation we heard (we were sitting near the kitchen and he was not particularly quiet, we were not trying to eavesdrop on a private conversation)  

I called several times to ask if they had any recommendations for a ceremony spot for the wedding and if there was cell coverage in the area to livestream our ceremony. 
I even called to ask if I needed to bring anything like plates, silver water etc. He complained that we did not order food - they were NOT serving food, I am not sure how he thought we could order food when they didn’t have any and when the restaurant was closed.

When we spoke to John and asked about what happened and why he felt deceived by us, he explained that Jack who works at the front desk completely misinformed the owners about our plans. She was also working at the front desk the day before our wedding. She was a complete nightmare to deal with. She yelled at my guests for asking details about late check-in, called our caterers kooky(her words!) , my partner and I were very tired of dealing with her attitude the day before the wedding.
On top of all of this, one of our guests found a pill bottle on the bed(which made me think if they were changing sheets during Covid times!!) 

John was apologetic that we had to hear him talk about us but it does not make it right. They did not charge us for the $250 after we had the conversation. We just left a big tip and got out of there as fast as we could. It was an emotional day for me as my family could not attend the wedding with all the travel restrictions. John and Jack just made my experience completely miserable. 

It’s such a shame because it was a beautiful property and we had hoped to come back and have a bigger reception next year and come back during our anniversaries. Needless  to say none of that will be happening as long as the current owners are running the place.

My suggestion if you are visiting this place is, expect a rustic location. The grounds are beautiful if you are looking for a quick getaway. But if you are having a bigger event like weddings, stay far away from this place and look for another location in Catskills. There are plenty in the area.

They made me miserable on my wedding trip

My husband and I spend a Saturday night in late February. The website had noted that the restaurant would be closed but that the bar and other winter amenities would be available. Upon check in we were told that the owners and regular staff were all at the opening of another property owned by the proprietors and that there would not be staff at the hotel after 9:30pm that evening and possibly not the next morning. 

We had a lovely dinner at a kitschy local restaurant and returned to the hotel where the woman at the desk was super accommodating, getting us drinks and games to play. At the stroke of 9:30pm she closed the bar and left making the rest of our evening experience more like a communal air-b-n-b than an upscale rustic hotel.

The next morning we went down to the common area to find that the continental breakfast was coffee with spoiled milk, shriveled oranges, and some Cheerios. There was no one at the hotel to ask about getting new milk or even to turn in your room key when you left.

We did hike the trails on the property and appreciated the vibe. However, the hospitality that people have posted about previously was sorely lacking during our stay.

Disappointing Winter Weekend

Great Food, ambiance and grounds. We loved the big dining room, the porch filled with bokks, games and crafts, and the Giant bonfire. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent, the showers had great pressure, bedding was comfy. What more to ask for? this is a Brooklyn-hip version of the catskills, with lots of young people and dogs roaming everywhere. There is a waterfall you can walk to and lots of trails nearby. Close to Windham. No TVs in rooms. The Tavern across from the main lodge, also part of the property, has a pool table, darts, a lovely deck, and occasionl live music. This is really a perfect get-away if you like casual but curated.

Cozy Retreat!

Glen Falls house is a work in progress, and the main areas they have completed have a thoughtful hipster vibe and have been creatively and well done. The owners and staff are welcoming and accommodating to feedback though and I applaud their efforts.  I would recommend for a relaxed weekend in the main house. Highlights are: Music and pub games across the street in their bar, time outside the adjacent wood-burning stoves, solid breakfast, and having an intimate dinner in the dining room. We would return to stay in the main house, but I would not recommend the hilltop motel at this point until they have renovated it as the motel rooms are sparse and feel characterless.  Tip: BRING EARPLUGS -in case the bartender decides to drink with the guests and you are already in bed trying to sleep...

Recommend the renovated main house and restaurant

Had a perfect stay here.  The property, the music, the food, the hike, the people I could not have been happier.   Would highly recommend Glen Falls House!  Cannot wait for my next visit.  We went during their annual Halloween party and it was a bash.  Everyone was dressed up and the entire hotel was decorated.

Fabulous Weekend!

Had two great meals here in their renovated dining room/restaurant, with 2 working wood stoves.  The renovation on the whole property is beautiful and we hope to stay overnight here next time we visit.  Dinner was excellent as was the wine the waiter recommended.  We came back the next day for breakfast which also was delicious.

Beautiful place, excellent food

This property is so unique and peaceful.  The room is sparse but very clean and comfortable. The restaurant is excellent and the drinks were going down nicely as well.  The "Casino"  is the bar they own across the street and we had a blast listening to music, dancing and sitting by the bonfire. The pool was chilly but still very relaxing.  I would go back in a heartbeat.
