Stayed here for two nights. I’m certain our stay may have been a little more relaxing and comfortable if the housekeeping staff would have cleaned. I was tired when we arrived to a refrigerator with food spilled in it. Crumbs in the drawers, coffee table, end table and dinning table were sticky with food spills and food particles. None of the 3 bathrooms were swept & cleaned. There was hair all over the floors and shower, rugs were dirty, definitely not vacuumed. Stove top & microwave had food and hand smears all over the front of it.  Crushed Doritos’ and spaghetti noodles on kitchen floor. The King bed mattress was pulled away from the headboard about 6 inches only to expose an eyesore of filth. We thought someone was playing a joke on us at first only to realize it wasn’t a joke. Not sure what happened to housekeeping as the only sign of their presence was a fresh roll of toilet paper, beds made up and linens. I tried to message the owner using the app, but they never did reply. Needless to say, I ended up cleaning as best as I could. When I checked out, I reported it to the front desk and hopefully they will look into it and see what happened.

What Happened to Housekeeping?

Ski trip with family of 5 (ages 15 - 58).  We had the 3 bedroom ski package which allowed for two boys to share one room (twin beds), one to have his own (queen bed), and us to be downstairs for a peaceful nights sleep (king bed).  It included skiing for all 5 of us for four days, which was very convenient to get our Boyne Highlands' 4 day pass right at check-in and not have to go to the ski lodge each day.  The cottages are located on the golf course, which is across the street from the Inn.  You have to drive to the Inn for any amenities, but it just takes a couple of minutes.  We could see the bay from our living room, over the golf course.  My 18 year old son used the workout area and said it was small but useful.  Beds were a bit stiff and it's time for some updating of the interior but other than the normal wear and tear of being used/loved, it served as a great way to spread out, warm up from the slopes, and get ready for the next day!  I highly suggest the breakfast package.  The food was outstanding and the omelet/egg chef (Devon?) was great.  The entire staff was very friendly!  There was a washer/dryer in the basement, fireplace, full kitchen with utensils/plates, dishwasher, full fridge and 3 full bathrooms.  Again, a home away from home!

Home Away From Home

These cottages are a nice alternative to a hotel room.  We found our cottage clean and comfortable with water and microwave popcorn provided daily. Our stay was short lasting only two nights, but housekeeping did knock and check to see if we needed a change of towels or anything else. Our cottage had three bedrooms, the master en-suite was downstairs and two bedrooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom was upstairs.  There was also a full bath on the main floor as well as a small kitchen. Should we return to Petoskey we will certainly stay there again.

Comfortable and Quaint

We recently stayed at the Lakeside Cottages at Bay Harbor (three bedroom) and was very impressed.  A really nice place. Well furnished, fully equipped kitchen, in room jacuzzi, spacious bedrooms and a beautiful view of the lake.  You get access to a wonderful pool, jacuzzi and cabanas.  All the employees are very friendly and are willing to help.

We really loved the location, quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle of Petoskey.  Food choices are good, the nearby hotel offers a delightful breakfast buffet, and there are a few smaller delis and restaurants nearby that are nice.  

Couple of tips.  Check out the bike trail, it is steps from your front door and is beautiful (take it towards Petoskey).  Also not far is East Park, nice playground equipment and some spectacular views of the lake.  Plus nightly there is a bonfire, right on the lake, yards from the cottages, with everything you need to make your own s’mores.  

Can’t wait to visit again!

Awesome!

Lucky enough to get to stay here as a gift. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen and eating area and small living room. Nice outdoor porch to sit on and watch the children play or people walking by.  Beds are only doubles, but rooms were pretty clean. Great breakfasts each morning and they vary the selections.

Picture perfect!

Run down, poorly maintained.  Used to be magnificent 15 or so years ago.
Bad management, rude staff and understaffed.   Landscaping needs help.  The only redeeming quality is the location and the magnificent view if your cottage is near the water.  The town of Bay Harbor is charming.  Knot Just a Bar has good family food.  Recommend the whitefish fingers.

The units are nice but- any dealings with the front desk was very time consuming and frustrating. Apparently cottages are owned by a different company than the Inn so trying to get anything changed or even checking inn took too long.

Wedding weekend lodging

Celebrated my mom's 70th birthday with family at this resort.  The condo is extremely well done.  Very close to the amenities at the adjacent hotel and very walkable to a world-class marina.  My advice - wait until the staffing catches up to "the season".  We gave the one 14 year old that actually tried to provided OK service a 35% tip.  Everyone else struggled with the basics - drink orders, coming back to the table occasionally - the basics.  I would stay here again, but a few pieces of advice: 1) get extra towels at every opportunity.  I'm not sure what the actual maid service schedule is, but it seemed like it was on-demand; 2) same goes for trash.  By the 3rd day we were looking for a dumpster with 5 adults and 2 kids; 3) bring beach shoes.  Beach is nice, but not barefoot by any stretch of the imagination.  As I said, would completely come back.  Disappointing that Boyne couldn't take this magnificent propert to the next level (which at this point would be attaining Courtyard Marriott standards.)

Late June Getaway

I stayed at the Crooked Tree cottages with friends recently for a weekend golfing trip.  The cottages were very quaint and nice.  They were located inside of the Crooked Tree Golf Club and the back porch of our cottage was located off of the 18th fairway.  These cottages are in great proximity to the Crooked Tree Golf Club (Within walking distance of the pro-shop), the Bay Harbor Golf Club, and a short 20-25 minute drive to the Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs.  

The Crooked Tree cottages had 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms.  Each room contained each different type of bed such as one room having two twin beds, another room having a queen bed and the last room having a king size bed.  The living room and kitchen area were spacious.  The cottage also contained a washer and dryer and full kitchen.  The washer and dryer are located in the basement level of the cottage.  The cottage is great for short weekends with friends on golfing trips or if you are in the Petoskey area to ski.  Its close proximity to downtown Bay Harbor and Lake Michigan are also a plus.  All in all, our stay at the Crooked Tree cottages was very comfortable and enjoyable.

Also, the cottages are equipped with forced air heat and central air conditioning.
