Unpleasant staff, not ready to help. we were alone in the hotel however they refused us a check in earlier except moderately the price of one more night while it was 10am and check in at 1pm, we could not stay in the lobby, refusal breakfast passed for a few minutes while we were the only guests, however insistent to book tours. a woman who did not speak English and slept all day on the couch, not smiling and the boss unpleasant, almost aggressive. quiet and well placed place but dirty sheets, dirty bathroom, no pressure. Far too expensive to have a shared bathroom and no window for most of the rooms there is much better on Hanoi with friendly people. we have been doing a tour of Asia for 6 months we never came across worse.

Run away

Stayed in family room with family of four, owner arranged transfers to and from airport and to Ha Long Bay, which were all on time. Daughter was already at home stay 4 days before we arrived she was on her own. Owner had given her his mobile number and told her to contact him if she needed anything. Lovely family, owners sister really looked after us communicated by google translator, room clean had fridge, kettle and air conditioning. It was lovely staying in their family home, good location in old town Hanoi.

Very happy with stay

Stayed here as my daughter booked it as traveling the country. We were meeting up for family holiday. very clean. Breakfast good. Family who own this place are very helpful and friendly fly. Stairs to all rooms fridge and kettle in room. Shower and toilet clean. Owner help with transfers as well. Air .com good. We used the family room on first floor. Great place. Close to markets and restaurants. We stayed twice. And left for UK and my daughter stayed one more night before leavingfor OZ. I felt happy she was in safe hands there as the owners were just so nice. Great place to start a trip in the area. Would go back.

Stay over at start of holiday

THIS IS A SCAM - DO NOT STAY HERE. Read the reviews on here and on booking.com, then book one of the numerous other cheap, friendly and excellently located hotels/homestays in Hanoi. Save yourself a lot of time and effort by avoiding this place at all costs. 

We had booked a triple room as advertised, for three people. Upon arrival (similar to many other reviews) we were told the room didn't exist and they only had a family room available at an increased cost. We asked to speak to the manager who we were put on the phone to. She instantly launched into a 10 minute angry tirade about it not being her fault, they had now changed the listing (they haven't) and we could either pay the increased price or cancel and look elsewhere. Given the lack of apology and being told to pay significantly more than we'd booked, we decided to find a different hotel. We were assured by the manager on the phone that the fee would not be charged if we chose to stay elsewhere. 

Surprise, surprise - the next day the money was taken from my account and the manager is claiming to booking.com that it's because we didn't show up. Add insult to injury, when we went back a few days later to contest it, the manager told her staff member on the phone that she didn't want to talk to us, refusing to be passed over and that the other manager is "too busy at the moment". Am now having to prove to booking.com that we did show up to get our money back. 

Upon reading further reviews from customers, it looks like this is a regular occurrence with this homestay - please book elsewhere, the worst experience I have ever had with a business and looks as though it is happening with many other tourists.

So here's what happened: My friends and I arrived in Hanoi around 5:30am. We were told by the student working at this homestay that although we were too early to check in, we could leave our bags there; totally fair enough. After a long day out we eventually went back to the homestay around 7pm and were told by the same student that the price for which we had booked the room on booking.com was wrong and that if we wanted to stay in the room we had booked, we would need to pay extra. We argued with her briefly with obvious statements such as "not our fault," etc., but it became clear that it was her manager's decision and she was just passing on the message. We asked her to call the manager so that we could speak to him or her directly. After getting the manager on the phone, we found her to be wholly unapologetic; she basically told us that we could either pay her what she was asking or find somewhere else to stay. We left. Enough said really. It's a shame because this place has a certificate of excellence. In other news, yesterday, the International Bureau of Excellence reported record lows for standards of excellence throughout areas of...

I would like to warm people about this property. I booked 3 rooms for 6 peoples for my family and me for 2 weeks. 

When we arrived they tried to make us pay more than expected on your booking, the breakfast 'included' is bad (nothing is available on their menu, we order the day before and in the morning they tell us they have nothing so we never take a breakfast there but we paid for) and they question us all the time to get us to book trips with them. They 'clean' the rooms one time in 2 weeks.

Moreover the day before we leave, they asked us to change room because they rent our room to someone else. 

And during our stay, they canceled our booking on Booking.com so it is impossible to leave a comment about my stay.

So it's cheap but you know why!

Terrible Homestay! 

This hotel is dirty, very noisy and we are very poorly received. With the price of the room we have breakfast which is non-existent. They have nothing to offer us. The private bathroom is in the hallway accessible to everyone!!! To turn off the room lights, you must also go in the hallway. At the time of payment as by chance the credit card does not work and above all they ask you to pay the whole while they have already withdrawn 30% of what is due!!! To avoid at all costs

We had booked online before arriving at this homestay, arriving just after 10pm (having already emailed them to say we would be late as we were getting a bus down from Sa Pa) and were turned away. First they said it was due to them being "fully booked" then a few minutes later it was due to "the manager spraying the hotel and accidentally leaving the doors open". Total rubbish!! We were so angry at this, then to top it off we were charged a few days later due to us not turning up?! The audacity of this is shocking. I have started an enquiry with the company we booked through and hope to hear back soon. Do not stay here and give them the satisfaction.

Turned away at 10pm. Do not stay here!!!

The host treats travellers as a fool. We arrived with a confirmed booking and the host said it was full and then tried to convince us to go to his another accommodation where is not the hanoi old quarter.  We didn't want to go and he didn't agree to cancel this  booking.

When we arrived at his hotel, we were picked up by the bus to Sa Pa, who arrived 40 minutes late and made us walk in the rain, cold, and backpacks to get a van that could perfectly have come to pick us up at the hotel as they had said.When we told the owner this, he got nervous and shouted our bags at the pushes and punches, telling us that we were coming from Vietnam, it seemed that foreigners didn't like it very much. When we arrived we also had a nervous attitude because the web through which we had been hacked the hotel had a problem that had nothing to do with us, and instead of trying to solve that I sent another hot airline to the downtown area and started offering a room without the company to book a flight.
