I stayed in a room that was extremely hot due to that the air conditioning did not work. I asked for help with the problem but they didn't care to act, I should have at least got a fan for the room as it was getting extremely hot.

This hotel was really good a few years ago but unfortunately is completely different now, stayed three nights but hardly ever saw any staff at the hotel.
There are much better options for the same price in central District 1 of Ho Chi Minh.

Old hotel without customer service

This is the worst hotel that I've ever stayed. I couldnt sleep at nights because the hotel guests and the owner made a lot of noises. It's so noisy. Please stay away from this hotel !!!! I regretted staying at this horrible hotel

TERRIBLE!!!!

Ho Chi Minh is a expensive city so it's difficult to find a decent place to stay on budget. Blue river 2 hotel was good, comfortable and it comes with free breakfast. Room was clean and spacious.  The location is ok (1km from Pham Ngu Lao) 
The owner is a lovely girl. 

Good value

We stayed at this hotel with our sister for 2 nights. The navigator found a small sign off the road unnoticed. The hotel was in the yard. Our room was on the second floor with a window, medium size, TV, wardrobe, air conditioner with bed, two tubs, shower, hot water was always there, bathroom accessories were left. Bed linen, towels and room were clean. Breakfast is very scarce.

Hard to find.

Cheap, well-located hotel. They offer simple, clean rooms. With air conditioning and hot water. Includes breakfast and Wi-Fi. The entrance is something strange, you have to enter a courtyard where there are several guesthouses. But this one is centrally located.

Reasonable for what you pay.

We've stayed at this hotel twice before, and in my review in 2016 I expressed dissatisfaction with the attitude of staff and owners to the guests of the hotel. Two years passed, and the situation improved: Blue River II staff became more cautious and attentive to customers. Room 201, in which we stayed twice in December 2018, is quite spacious and quite comfortable: two wide beds, air conditioning, TV, minibar, bathroom with hot water and toiletries. And there is even a real bathroom!) Room 001, as far as I remember, of the same quality.

It was good, it was very good!

So when you are not paying very much money it pays to have realistic expectations. The hosts were lovely but not very good English, in fact we needed Google translator just to get towels but that was kind of funny. The positive, well it is cheap, it is pretty quiet given the throng of HCMC, the air con worked a treat and the simple breakfast was included. The negative, the worst bit for us was that the bed was so hard and pillows not great, not super clean and the lift had a mouldy smell. The location is ok, whilst not much in the way of pubs or many restaurants nearby it is only a 15 minute walk to backpackers area or into Pasteur Street.

What you woud expect for the price!

Considering how cheap it was, overall this hotel wasn’t too bad. No frills. Cheap and cheery. 

Positives: The air conditioner worked a treat and kept the room very cool. The owner was lovely and despite having very limited English, understood our charades to demonstrate what we were talking about. She was friendly and smiley. Breakfast each morning was lovely - three choices, all cooked fresh. It’s reasonably close to the action, within walking distance to bars, street food and restaurants in the backpackers area. The rooms are elevated so there’s no risk of flooding after the daily torrential downpours. It’s Ok for people who don’t mind walking 20+ minutes through the hectic streets and crossing the crazy intersections through non-stop, weaving bikes, mopeds, cars and buses to get to places. This can be considered a high-Adrenalin bonus! 

Negatives: The bathroom had been hosed down before we arrived and was still very wet. The toilet roll in the holder was soaked, and was sitting on top of another toilet roll insert which had been stuffed with used toiled paper. Revolting! The bed was uncomfortable - extremely hard and the two pillows were very thin and hard also. They had no other pillows available. The small elevator has a very strong stench of mold. 



No frills, cheap and cheery accommodation.

The place is clean. Rooms have aircon TV bathroom. The check in easy. Is always my first choice for the first day when I arrive Ho Chi Minh. It includes breakfast which consists of a choice of fries eggs.. Omelet with bread etc.. And  a coffee or tea. The price is good.. About 7 euros for double room. 

The downside is that is 10 min walk to all bars area. Is in a quiet area..far from all the other hotels..restaurants.. Etc. And that is a bit harder to find as it is in an alley.

Nice place.. Breakfast included.

I thought it would be closer to food and shopping but come to find its right smack dab in the middle of a motorcycle repair district, really nothing but motorcycle repair shops and parts shops for several blocks, we have to walk 1-1.5km to get to the street foods, closest market is 1.5km. We were on the 5th floor and the lift only goes to floor #4, have to walk the final flight of stairs. No daily housecleaning but we didn’t mind too much but they only supplied 2 tiny bars of soap, around a 1.5” square that lasted 2 showers, had to buy a couple bars from a store, toilet paper was around 1/3 if a roll. Upon entering the room the air was turned off and it was hotter than hell but the a/c cooks it down on full blast, just make sure to leave it on your entire stay. Bathroom is fairly decent and the 2 single beds are decently comfortable, there’s a stocked refrigerator with coke, Pepsi, water and Heinekens. The free breakfast is an egg, baguette and very good coffee, wasn’t expecting much with going with a lower end room but would have been nice to have enough soap for 4 nights. A half decent view of the city.
